Bitcoin experienced a sharp correction on Tuesday after reaching a new all-time high of $123,091. Within 24 hours, the price of Bitcoin dropped by 4.73%, settling at $116,800. This price adjustment is attributed to short-term traders securing their profits amid what has been a strong rally throughout July.
Long-Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Activity Adds Market Pressure
Data from blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain revealed that a once-inactive Bitcoin wallet holding 80,009 BTC, valued at around $9.46 billion, moved 7,843 BTC (approximately $927 million) to Galaxy Digital. In total, 16,843 BTC worth nearly $2 billion has been transferred out of this wallet recently.
On Tuesday, Galaxy Digital further distributed 2,000 BTC, valued at $236 million, to major cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Bybit. This influx increased the available Bitcoin supply on these trading platforms, contributing to downward price pressure.
