Crypto’s Upward Run Has Some Worried They’ve Missed the Boat, Survey Says
As the cryptocurrency market experiences a significant surge in 2025, a growing number of Americans are expressing both interest and apprehension about diving into digital assets. According to a recent survey by the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA), many potential investors worry they may have already missed the prime opportunity to capitalize on the crypto boom.
Rising Interest Amid Record Bitcoin Prices
Bitcoin, the most well-known cryptocurrency, has surged approximately 28% this year, reaching an all-time high of over $123,000 in early July. This remarkable run has caught the attention of many Americans. The broader crypto market, valued at around $3.8 trillion, has also seen gains with Ether, the second largest cryptocurrency, trading near $3,600. The bullish trend has been fueled in part by a more crypto-friendly political environment. Notably, last week President Donald Trump signed the pro-crypto GENIUS Act into law, establishing a regulatory framework specifically for stablecoins — a type of digital asset pegged to traditional currencies. This legislation is expected to pave the way for wider adoption and integration of cryptocurrencies into everyday financial transactions.
Survey Reveals Mixed Sentiments Among Americans
Despite these promising developments, the NCA’s survey of 2,000 Americans highlights ongoing hesitation. Among respondents who currently do not own any cryptocurrency, one in five plan to buy or use crypto by the end of 2025. Additionally, two in five people who want to learn more about digital currencies expressed the intention to get involved soon.
However, the survey also revealed significant barriers to entry. A majority — 55% of all respondents — found researching cryptocurrency overwhelming, while 70% said they needed more trustworthy information before considering any investment.
Moreover, about half of those interested in learning more harbored fears that they had already missed the ideal entry point, illustrating a sense of urgency mixed with uncertainty.
Pro-Crypto Legislation Spurs Optimism
The signing of the GENIUS Act represents a major milestone in U.S. cryptocurrency policy. The Act provides clearer regulatory guidance for stablecoins, which could bolster their legitimacy and encourage broader use. Industry observers believe this framework may help accelerate crypto’s mainstream acceptance, alleviating some concerns related to legal and financial risks.
