Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Partner to Bring Live Sports and Financial Market Updates to Samsung News

Samsung has announced a strategic partnership with Yahoo Media Group to enhance the Samsung News app experience for Galaxy users by integrating live sports scores and real-time financial market information. This marks the first major expansion of Samsung News’ core features, aiming to provide users with up-to-the-minute updates right within their Samsung ecosystem.

Real-Time Sports and Financial Data in One Place

Beginning October 1, 2025, Samsung News has rolled out a dedicated Sports tab alongside a new stock market module powered by Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance, respectively. Galaxy smartphone and tablet users, from models released since 2023 onward, can now effortlessly follow live scores, schedules, standings, and detailed sports statistics. Fans can customize their experience by selecting their preferred teams and sports, receiving timely alerts about buzzer-beaters and key game moments.

On the financial side, the upgraded Yahoo Finance module offers live tracking of major U.S. stock indices and curated financial headlines from top news sources. This feature helps users stay informed about market movers and economic news without leaving the Samsung News app.

Trusted Sources and Seamless Integration

Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance bring decades of digital media expertise to this collaboration, offering reliable and authoritative content for Samsung News users. The integration ensures that Galaxy users receive expertly curated written articles and video coverage in a seamless, easy-to-navigate interface that complements their Samsung devices.

“Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources,” said Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services. “Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”

Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”

More Than Just Sports and Finance

This new update complements Samsung News’ broader content offering, which includes comprehensive coverage across politics, entertainment, and business. The app also delivers Daily Briefings twice daily, curated by experienced news editors, to keep users well-informed.

Users can personalize their news feed preferences by choosing from dozens of Samsung content partners such as Yahoo, NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, as well as newer additions like Complex and Time Out, tailoring their news experience to their interests.

Availability

The new features in Samsung News are currently available in English for users in the United States and Canada, with plans to expand to additional languages and territories in the near future. The update supports all Galaxy smartphones and tablets released from 2023 onward.

This partnership reflects Samsung’s commitment to innovation and delivering enriched digital experiences to Galaxy users, consolidating live sports scores and financial insights alongside diverse news content within a single app.
