Trade Republic Launches Crypto Wallet Featuring Asset Transfers, Staking, and Payments
By Jens JĂĽttner | November 14, 2025
Berlin-based fintech Trade Republic has taken a significant step forward in expanding its investment platform with the introduction of a new crypto wallet that enables sending and receiving digital assets. This latest upgrade brings long-awaited functionality to the platform, including external transfers, staking opportunities, and payment options using cryptocurrencies.
Expanding from Discount Broker to Comprehensive Investment Platform
Trade Republic continues to evolve from its origins as a discount broker into a more complete wealth management solution aimed at a broad range of investors. The new crypto wallet marks the company’s third major rollout within just a few months, following the launch of access to private markets investments and a fixed-income product offering.
The company now organizes its services around a four-pillar model: Brokerage, Private Markets, Fixed Income, and Crypto – with cryptocurrencies positioned as an equally important asset class. CEO Christian Hecker highlights that long-term investing involves a combination of diverse asset categories, a vision that aims to shift Trade Republic’s reputation beyond being primarily a trading venue.
As one of the first European banks with a MiCAR license, Trade Republic can now provide fully regulated crypto transfers, custody, and payment services under one roof, strengthening trust and compliance in digital asset management.
New Features of the Trade Republic Crypto Wallet
The wallet introduces capabilities that had previously been limited to specialist crypto exchanges:
-
Transfers to External Wallets: Users can now send and receive around 50 to 60 coins and tokens, including major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. Custody services remain with BitGo Europe, but now customers can move assets freely outside the app, ending the previous “in-app imprisonment” where assets could only be bought or sold within the platform.
-
Staking: The wallet supports staking of ETH, SOL, and other blockchain networks. Investors can lock their tokens directly in the app to earn network rewards. Trade Republic advises users about the risks of locked assets during the staking period.
-
Crypto Payments with Increased Saveback: The Trade Republic card is integrated more tightly with crypto holdings. When users pay with cryptocurrencies instead of euros, they receive a doubled saveback rate of 2% in digital currency. However, every crypto payment triggers a taxable disposal event that users need to consider.
Launch Incentives and Guidance
To encourage adoption, Trade Republic offers a bonus for users who transfer crypto assets from other providers before the end of the year. An additional 1% bonus applies on top of the transferred amounts (excluding newly purchased coins). The company also brings in well-known actor Sky du Mont to provide instructional masterclasses within the app, helping users familiarize themselves with crypto investing.
Strengthening Market Position Amid Competition
This crypto wallet update follows recent introductions of private equity funds—featuring Apollo and EQT offerings—and a fixed income product with US-dollar bonds available starting at one euro. These developments underscore Trade Republic’s ambition to become a fully integrated wealth management platform.
By broadening its crypto features, Trade Republic clearly positions itself against competitors such as Revolut, which operates more as a neobank but aggressively invests in crypto services. Trade Republic’s regulated and versatile platform aims to service investors who want a comprehensive, multi-asset approach.
