Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Collaborate to Bring Live Sports and Financial Market Updates to Samsung News
New York, October 1, 2025 — Samsung has announced a major enhancement to its flagship news platform, Samsung News, by partnering with Yahoo Media Group to integrate real-time sports scores and financial market information. This collaboration marks the first significant expansion of features within Samsung News, aimed at delivering updated, personalized content seamlessly inside the Samsung ecosystem.
Live Sports Scores and Financial Market Insights At Your Fingertips
Starting today, Galaxy smartphone and tablet users from 2023 onward in the United States and Canada can access two new dedicated sections within Samsung News: a Sports tab and a stock market module. Powered by Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance—trusted digital media authorities with decades of expertise—these new features offer instant updates on sports games and financial markets alike.
With the new Sports tab, users can track live scores, schedules, standings, and player statistics across major sports leagues. Sports enthusiasts can also customize the experience by following their favorite teams and specific sports, enabling quick, tailored updates whenever they want to check in.
On the finance front, Samsung News now includes a dedicated Yahoo Finance module that provides real-time data on major U.S. indices and curated financial headlines sourced from top outlets. This enhancement helps users stay informed about market movements and economic news without navigating away from the app.
A Seamless, Personalized News Experience
Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, emphasized the value of this integration: “Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”
Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”
Beyond the sports and finance sectors, Samsung News continues to provide comprehensive news coverage across various genres including politics, entertainment, and business. The platform delivers Daily Briefings twice daily, featuring content curated by an experienced team of editors. Users can further personalize their news feed by selecting preferences from dozens of partners such as NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, Complex, and Time Out.
Availability and Compatibility
The newly introduced Samsung News features powered by Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance are currently available in English for users in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand to additional languages and territories soon. The update supports all Galaxy smartphones and tablets launched beginning in 2023. With this innovative partnership, Samsung reaffirms its commitment to enriching the Galaxy user experience by providing timely and relevant information when and where users need it most.
