Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Launch Live Sports and Financial Market Features in Samsung News

October 1, 2025

Samsung has introduced a significant expansion to its Samsung News platform, enhancing the way Galaxy users stay informed by integrating live sports scores and real-time financial market updates. This marks the first major feature expansion of Samsung News, made possible through a new partnership with Yahoo Media Group, the operator of Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance.

Real-Time Sports and Financial Information at Your Fingertips

Starting today, Galaxy smartphone and tablet users in the United States and Canada can access a newly added Sports tab and a dedicated stock market module within the Samsung News app. Powered by Yahoo Media Group’s trusted digital media expertise, these features deliver instant, personalized sports coverage alongside comprehensive financial market insights—all seamlessly accessible with a single tap.

The Sports tab offers up-to-the-minute scores, schedules, standings, and player statistics from leading sports leagues. Fans have the option to customize their experience by following specific teams and sports to stay updated on their favorites. Meanwhile, the Yahoo Finance module provides real-time tracking of major U.S. stock indices, complemented by a curated stream of financial headlines from top news sources, ensuring users stay on top of relevant economic news and market movements.

A Unified News Destination for Galaxy Users

Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, highlighted the importance of this development: “Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial market updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”

Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”

Comprehensive News With Personalized Options

Beyond live sports and financial content, Samsung News continues to provide users with access to the latest news across various genres, including politics, entertainment, and business. The platform offers Daily Briefings twice daily, curated by a team of experienced editors to highlight key developments. Users can personalize their news feed by selecting from dozens of content partners such as Yahoo, NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, and new additions like Complex and Time Out.

Availability and Compatibility

The new Sports tab and financial market module are currently available in English for Samsung Galaxy devices released from 2023 onward, including both smartphones and tablets. Samsung plans to roll out additional languages and expand availability to new territories in the coming months.

This collaboration between Samsung and Yahoo Media Group marks a major step forward in delivering integrated, real-time content within the Samsung ecosystem, offering Galaxy users a streamlined and enriched news experience.
