Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Partner to Enhance Samsung News with Live Sports and Financial Market Updates
Samsung has announced a significant expansion of its Samsung News platform through a new partnership with Yahoo Media Group, the operator of Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance. This collaboration introduces live, real-time sports and financial market information to Samsung News for the first time, offering Galaxy users a seamless and personalized experience for following the latest scores and market developments.
New Features in Samsung News
Effective immediately, Galaxy smartphone and tablet users in the United States and Canada can access a dedicated Sports tab and a stock market module within Samsung News. Powered by Yahoo’s trusted real-time data, the Sports tab provides up-to-the-minute scores, schedules, standings, and statistics from leading sports leagues. Users can customize their feed by selecting their favorite teams and sports, ensuring they receive relevant updates and expert coverage, including written and video content.
On the financial side, the new Yahoo Finance module delivers real-time tracking of major U.S. stock indices and financial market trends. Along with market data, users receive a curated stream of timely financial headlines sourced from top news outlets, keeping them informed about important economic news and market shifts all within the Samsung ecosystem.
Trusted Sources and Seamless Integration
Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance bring decades of expertise as authoritative digital media leaders in their respective fields. Their integration into Samsung News aims to make staying updated easier and more convenient for Galaxy users, who already rely on the platform multiple times daily for news across a variety of categories.
Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, remarked, “Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune-in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”
Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”
Expanded News Experience
In addition to the new live sports and market data, Samsung News continues to deliver a broad range of news content across politics, entertainment, business, and more. Daily Briefings, curated by a team of experienced editors, are provided twice daily to ensure users receive handpicked, relevant stories.
Users can further personalize their news feed by choosing from dozens of content partners, including Yahoo, NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, as well as recently added sources like Complex and Time Out. The update supports all Galaxy smartphones and tablets released from 2023 onward and is currently available in English in the US and Canada, with plans to expand to additional languages and regions soon.
