Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Collaborate to Enhance Samsung News with Live Sports and Financial Market Updates

October 1, 2025 — Samsung is elevating the news consumption experience for Galaxy users by integrating real-time sports and financial market information directly into the Samsung News app. In partnership with Yahoo Media Group, the company announced today the rollout of its first major features expansion, introducing a dedicated Sports tab and a financial market module powered by Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance.

Bringing Real-Time Updates to Galaxy Devices

Samsung News users can now effortlessly follow live sports scores, schedules, standings, and statistics from top sports leagues, all within the app’s new Sports tab. The feature allows fans to personalize their experience by following specific teams and sports, ensuring that the latest game action and highlights are just a tap away.

Simultaneously, financial market enthusiasts gain access to a comprehensive Yahoo Finance module that displays up-to-the-minute data tracking major U.S. stock indices along with curated financial headlines. This module offers expert market insights and economic news, combining data from multiple reputable sources to keep users informed about market movements as they happen.

Trusted Sources for Live Information

Yahoo Media Group, with its decades of expertise in digital media, especially through Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance, brings a wealth of reliable real-time content to Samsung News. The collaboration ensures that Galaxy users receive breaking headlines, detailed sports coverage—including written and video formats—and authoritative financial analysis, all seamlessly integrated within the Samsung ecosystem.

Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, emphasized the enhancement’s significance:
“Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”

Echoing this sentiment, Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, stated:
“We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”

More Than Just Sports and Markets

These new features complement Samsung News’ existing offerings, which include updates across diverse categories such as politics, entertainment, and business. The app delivers Daily Briefings twice per day, curated by professional news editors, providing users with carefully selected top stories. Samsung News also supports personalization through its News Feed, sourcing content from numerous prominent partners including NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, Complex, and Time Out.

Availability and Device Compatibility

The expanded Samsung News app experience is currently available in English for users in the United States and Canada. Samsung plans to extend support to additional languages and regions in the near future. The update is compatible with all Galaxy smartphones and tablets released from 2023 onward, making it widely accessible to the Galaxy user base.
