Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Join Forces to Enhance Samsung News with Live Sports and Financial Market Updates
Samsung has announced a strategic partnership with Yahoo Media Group to bring real-time sports scores and financial market information directly to Galaxy device users through Samsung News. This collaboration marks the first major feature expansion of Samsung News, providing fans and market watchers with instant access to personalized, up-to-the-minute content powered by Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance.
Bringing Live Sports and Market Data Into One Hub
Starting October 1, 2025, Galaxy users can explore a new dedicated Sports tab within Samsung News, offering live scores, schedules, standings, and detailed statistics from top sports leagues. Sports enthusiasts can customize their experience by following their favorite teams and sports, ensuring they never miss crucial moments such as buzzer-beaters or game-changing plays.
In parallel, Samsung News is upgrading its financial news delivery with a brand-new Yahoo Finance module. This feature displays real-time data tracking major U.S. stock market indices and delivers a curated stream of market headlines sourced from leading news outlets. This allows users to stay informed about significant market movements and economic developments efficiently and conveniently.
Trusted, Seamless Experience Within the Samsung Ecosystem
Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance, both longstanding authorities in their respective fields, will power the content featured in Samsung News. Users will benefit from breaking headlines, expert analyses, and rich multimedia coverage integrated seamlessly into their Galaxy devices — whether smartphones or tablets released since 2023. Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, emphasized the significance of the update: “Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”
Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”
Comprehensive News Coverage Beyond Sports and Finance
Beyond its new sports and financial modules, Samsung News continues to serve as a comprehensive news platform with twice-daily Daily Briefings curated by seasoned editors. Users can tailor their news feed across multiple categories, including politics, entertainment, and business, drawing content from premium partners like Yahoo, NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, and newer additions Complex and Time Out.
Availability
This feature expansion is initially available in English for users in the United States and Canada, with plans to roll out additional languages and territories in the near future. The update supports all Galaxy smartphones and tablets from 2023 onward.
Looking Ahead
With this major feature expansion, Samsung News strengthens its role as an essential information hub within the Galaxy ecosystem, combining trusted journalistic sources with real-time updates to meet the evolving needs of users in sports and financial markets.
