Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Collaborate to Enhance Samsung News with Live Sports and Financial Updates
October 1, 2025 — Samsung is elevating the news experience for Galaxy users by introducing live, real-time sports scores and financial market information directly within the Samsung News app. This marks the first major expansion of the app’s feature set, made possible through a strategic partnership with Yahoo Media Group, the operator of Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance.
Seamless Access to Sports and Market Information
Starting today, Samsung News users on Galaxy smartphones and tablets from 2023 onward in the US and Canada can enjoy a brand-new Sports tab alongside a dedicated stock market module powered by Yahoo’s trusted platforms. Whether it’s following buzzer-beating plays or tracking market movers, users can now access all essential updates with just a single tap—without having to leave the Samsung ecosystem.
Yahoo Sports brings a wealth of real-time content, providing up-to-the-minute scores, schedules, standings, and detailed statistics from top sports leagues around the world. Fans can tailor their experience by selecting their favorite teams and sports, ensuring personalized, relevant coverage at all times.
Meanwhile, the Yahoo Finance module delivers live financial data including real-time tracking of major U.S. indices and a curated stream of financial news headlines sourced from leading outlets. This enables users to stay informed about market shifts and economic developments instantly.
Trusted Sources Enhance the Samsung News Experience
Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, emphasized the value this partnership brings: “Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”
Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”
Comprehensive News Coverage and Customization
Beyond sports and financial updates, Samsung News continues to provide broad news coverage across categories such as politics, entertainment, and business. Users receive twice-daily Daily Briefings carefully curated by experienced news editors to keep them well-informed. News Feed functionality also allows readers to personalize their preferences and access content from dozens of Samsung content partners, including Yahoo, NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, as well as newer additions like Complex and Time Out.
Availability and Compatibility
This feature update is currently rolling out in English for Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets released from 2023 onwards, in both the United States and Canada. Samsung plans to introduce additional languages and expand availability to more territories soon.
