Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents, Tommy Fury Expresses Interest in WWE, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Sparks Rumors

Bleacher Report’s latest WWE update covers key developments involving Roman Reigns, Tommy Fury, and Oba Femi, shedding light on current storylines and backstage news that have captivated wrestling fans worldwide.

Roman Reigns Opens Up About WrestleMania 40 and Future Prospects with The Rock

In a recent interview on the SI Media podcast, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns shared his thoughts regarding the main event of WrestleMania 40, where he faced Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock—a matchup that had been hotly anticipated by fans.

Addressing whether he felt disappointed not to face The Rock, Reigns was unequivocal about his focus on being the main event rather than the opponent itself. “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with, you know," Reigns said. "They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me."

This came after Cody Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but initially declined to challenge Reigns at WrestleMania. The Rock seemingly stepped in as the challenger but later turned heel, becoming The Final Boss and aligning with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins at the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 40, only for Rhodes to capture the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. When asked by host Jimmy Traina if a future match between Reigns and The Rock could still happen, Reigns responded optimistically, emphasizing the power of fan demand: “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock’s surprise return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month fueled speculation about his future involvement. With a high-stakes WarGames match involving The Bloodline scheduled for Survivor Series, fans are eagerly anticipating whether The Rock will reemerge to build toward a potential showdown with his cousin Roman Reigns.

Tommy Fury Hints at Possible WWE Journey Following UK Tour

Boxer and media personality Tommy Fury stirred curiosity among wrestling fans with hints about entering the WWE world. Fury posted a video on YouTube showing his experience backstage at a recent WWE UK tour event where he interacted with prominent wrestlers such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

In the video, Fury expressed gratitude for the hospitality and suggested an interest in trying his hand in professional wrestling: “I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night.”

At 25 years old, Tommy Fury hails from a family with boxing and wrestling ties; his older brother Tyson Fury previously made a brief WWE appearance in 2019. Tommy’s undefeated 10-0 boxing record and his victory over Jake Paul add to his potential appeal as a crossover athlete in WWE.

Given his connections and the existing presence of Logan Paul as a WWE Superstar, a potential storyline featuring the Fury brothers against the Paul brothers could attract mainstream attention and further broaden WWE’s audience.

Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Raises Questions Amid Recent Losses

Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has not been seen on NXT programming since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Reporting from Fightful Select notes that there has been no backstage presence from Femi at recent NXT tapings.

Femi’s absence comes after a notable title reign of 272 days—the longest in NXT North American Championship history—that ended when he was pinned by D’Angelo. Femi also lost a rematch at Halloween Havoc before disappearing from television.

Reasons for his absence remain unclear. It could be a strategic move by NXT creative to allow Femi to recover from the sting of two consecutive losses or perhaps prepare him for a main roster call-up. Alternatively, Femi might be recuperating from injury or being rested for future storylines.

When he returns, many expect Femi to be a credible contender for the NXT Championship, potentially positioned as the wrestler to dethrone the current champion, Trick Williams.

As the WWE universe continues to evolve with new rivalries, returns, and potential debuts, fans can stay tuned to Bleacher Report and official WWE platforms for further updates on these intriguing developments.
