Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents, Tommy Fury Teases WWE Interest, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Sparks Rumors

In the latest buzz from the WWE Universe, Roman Reigns opened up about his experiences facing Cody Rhodes and the possibility of a future showdown with The Rock. Meanwhile, boxer Tommy Fury hinted at a potential career in WWE, and NXT star Oba Femi has reportedly been absent from recent tapings, fueling speculation about his status.

Roman Reigns Discusses WrestleMania 40 and The Rock Match Prospects

During a Tuesday appearance on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE’s “Original Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on the lead-up and outcomes of WrestleMania 40. The main event saw Reigns first team up with The Rock to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1, only to lose the WWE Championship to Rhodes on Night 2. Reigns revealed he was indifferent to facing Rhodes instead of The Rock in the main event, emphasizing that being the center of attention was what mattered most to him. “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening, trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me,” he explained.

Following Rhodes’ victory at the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble, the originally planned match was to be Rhodes versus The Rock at WrestleMania 40. However, after fan backlash, Rhodes reversed his decision, leading to The Rock turning heel as “The Final Boss,” siding with Reigns.

When asked about a future WrestleMania bout with The Rock, Reigns did not rule it out. “If the people want it and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said, highlighting that WWE follows fan demand closely.

The Rock made a surprise return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has yet to appear again, leaving the door open for potential future clashes—especially with Survivor Series featuring a WarGames match between different factions of The Bloodline.

Tommy Fury Expresses Interest in WWE

Tommy Fury, a professional boxer with an undefeated 10-0 record, recently teased a possible foray into professional wrestling. In a YouTube video posted Sunday, Fury showed footage of himself backstage during WWE’s recent UK tour, mingling with stars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

“So guys, that is a night at the WWE complete. All the wrestlers showing love,” Fury said. “Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?”

The 25-year-old Fury is the younger brother of former heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, who had a brief WWE stint, including a Crown Jewel 2019 match and a notable intervention at WWE Clash at the Castle in 2022. Given Tommy’s connections—particularly his role in defeating Jake Paul, and ties to the Paul family—there is speculation that WWE could position him as a future opponent or partner involving Logan Paul, adding star power and crossover appeal.

Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Raises Questions

Oba Femi, the former NXT North American Champion, has been absent from NXT tapings since his October 27 loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc, reports Fightful Select. The reason for his absence remains unclear but could be related to recovering from back-to-back losses or a strategic move by WWE.

Since debuting on NXT television in April 2023, Femi had an impressive run, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American Championship for a record 272 days. He lost the title and subsequent rematch to D’Angelo last month.

Fans and analysts speculate that Femi’s time off could signal an impending main roster call-up, an injury hiatus, or a deliberate cooldown period by NXT officials. When he returns, many expect him to challenge for the NXT Championship, potentially dethroning current titleholder Trick Williams.
