Roman Reigns Talks The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Potential Future Dream Match

In a recent interview on the SI Media podcast, WWE superstar Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on facing both The Rock and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, as well as the potential for a future match against The Rock. Speaking with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, Reigns revealed that he was indifferent about which opponent he would face in the main event of WrestleMania 40, emphasizing the importance of being in the spotlight rather than who was across the ring.

Reigns said, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with, you know. I am the hot chick, everyone wanted to take me out. It’s where, we just need to get there and defend this thing. It didn’t matter who it is. They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me."

The WrestleMania 40 storyline experienced a dramatic twist when Cody Rhodes, after winning the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, initially declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship. This opened the door for The Rock, who was slated to face Reigns. However, following negative fan reactions, Rhodes reversed his decision, which led to The Rock turning heel, adopting the persona of "The Final Boss," and aligning himself with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, while Rhodes ultimately defeated Reigns for the WWE Championship in the main event of Night 2. When asked about the possibility of a future Roman Reigns vs. The Rock match, Reigns expressed openness, contingent on fan demand. "I think our fanbase and the company’s proven that if our fans are loud enough and passionate enough about something, we’re a company who—we’re not being dictated to. We have a vision for where we’re trying to go, but we know who the consumers are. We know who’s paying their hard-earned money, and we want to satisfy those people," Reigns said. He added, "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen."

The Rock made a surprise return to WWE programming at Bad Blood last month but has yet to reveal his intentions or make further appearances. With the upcoming WarGames match at Survivor Series, which will feature clashes between the new and original versions of The Bloodline, many fans speculate this could be an opportune moment for The Rock to re-emerge and start building toward a highly anticipated showdown with his cousin, Roman Reigns.

Tommy Fury Shows Interest in Joining WWE

British boxer Tommy Fury has hinted at a possible future in professional wrestling with WWE. Posting a video from backstage during WWE’s recent United Kingdom tour, Fury expressed appreciation for the wrestlers and the company, stating, "And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night."

Fury, who is undefeated in professional boxing and notably beat Jake Paul, is the younger brother of former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury previously appeared in WWE, competing in a one-time match at Crown Jewel 2019 and making notable appearances at other WWE events.

With Tommy’s connection to the Paul family and Logan Paul being an active WWE Superstar, a potential storyline involving the Fury brothers against the Paul brothers could be a compelling draw for WWE’s broader audience. While no formal contract or commitments have been announced, WWE’s interest in crossover athletes suggests Fury could be a contender for a future spot in the company.

Oba Femi’s Recent Absence from NXT Raises Questions

Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT tapings in recent weeks. According to reports from Fightful Select, Femi has not been seen on NXT programming since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Femi, who debuted on NXT television in April 2023, had an impressive run, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship by defeating Dragon Lee. His title reign lasted 272 days before unexpectedly losing to D’Angelo, followed by a rematch loss at Halloween Havoc.

The reasons for Femi’s current absence remain unclear—speculation includes injury, a push toward the main roster, or simply a strategic decision by NXT to give him a break after consecutive losses. Fans eagerly await his return, and Femi is widely viewed as a strong candidate for the NXT Championship, potentially positioned to challenge the current titleholder, Trick Williams, upon his comeback.
