"It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… It’s where, we just need to get there and defend this thing. It didn’t matter who it is. They are trying to stop history from happening… so it was the same task at hand for me."
The storyline took several twists after Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble and initially declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen."

Reports from Fightful Select reveal that since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27—where he lost the North American Championship after an impressive 272-day reign—Femi has not been seen on television or backstage.
Femi lost a subsequent rematch to D’Angelo and hasn’t appeared in NXT since. The reasons behind this absence remain unclear; it could indicate a needed break to regroup following two significant defeats, preparation for a main roster call-up, an injury, or a strategic decision by NXT creative to hold off on his televised return for storyline reasons.
