Roman Reigns Opens Up on The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and WrestleMania 40; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future; NXT Star Oba Femi’s Absence Sparks Rumors

In the ever-evolving world of professional wrestling, talks remain heated around major WWE personalities and rising stars. Recently, Roman Reigns shared candid insights about his WrestleMania 40 experiences, while boxing sensation Tommy Fury hinted at a potential WWE career. Meanwhile, speculation surrounds NXT’s Oba Femi following his unexpected absence from recent tapings.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and The Rock Match Prospects

During a recent appearance on Sports Illustrated’s SI Media podcast, WWE’s “Tribal Chief,” Roman Reigns, discussed his involvement in WrestleMania 40 and the shifting main event plans involving Cody Rhodes and The Rock. Initially, there was considerable buzz suggesting Reigns might face The Rock in the WrestleMania 40 main event after Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble in 2024. However, Rhodes later opted not to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship, leading to speculation that The Rock would step into the title match instead.

Reigns expressed no disappointment about facing Rhodes rather than The Rock, underscoring that for him, being the main event attraction was what mattered most. He explained to host Jimmy Traina that regardless of the opponent, his goal was to defend the championship and maintain his position at the pinnacle of the company:

“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle… so it was the same task in hand for me.”

The storyline took a dramatic twist as The Rock, after a heel turn branding himself “The Final Boss,” aligned with Reigns. Both teamed up to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the Night 1 main event at WrestleMania 40. On Night 2, however, Rhodes defeated Reigns to capture the WWE Championship.

When asked if a future one-on-one match between The Rock and Reigns remains possible, Reigns left the door open, noting the influence of fan demand:

“I think our fanbase and the company’s proven that if our fans are loud enough and passionate enough about something… If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock made a surprise return to WWE programming at the recent Bad Blood event, though he has yet to publicly clarify his intentions or pursue further storylines. With the ongoing Bloodline saga heating up ahead of Survivor Series’s WarGames match, speculation grows on whether The Rock might reemerge to deepen the family rivalry narrative.

Tommy Fury Considers WWE as Future Destination

Outside the ring, professional boxer Tommy Fury revealed potential interest in stepping into the pro wrestling arena with WWE. The younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury shared footage backstage at a recent WWE event during the UK tour via his YouTube channel.

He expressed gratitude towards WWE and some of its stars, saying:

“It’s been a great night… I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?”

Tommy Fury has carved out a successful boxing career with an undefeated 10-0 record and remains the only fighter to defeat YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Given WWE’s recent involvement with members of the Paul family—Logan Paul is a notable WWE Superstar—Fury could represent an exciting crossover talent and establish compelling feuds or partnerships within WWE programming.

Oba Femi’s Absence Raises Questions in NXT

Meanwhile, NXT’s former North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from television tapings for over a month. Following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, reports surfaced (courtesy of Fightful Select) indicating that Femi hasn’t been seen backstage or booked for recent NXT episodes.

Femi’s absence comes after a dominant initial run in NXT, during which he won the NXT Breakout Tournament and held the North American Championship for a record-setting 272 days before dropping the title. Though the reason for his time away is unconfirmed, possibilities range from a strategic television break following consecutive losses to potential main roster promotion or injury recovery.

Industry insiders view Femi as a strong candidate to pursue the NXT Championship upon his return, possibly positioning him as a key challenger to current titleholder Trick Williams.

As these storylines continue developing, fans can stay tuned for further updates and shifts within WWE’s dynamic landscape.
