Roman Reigns Talks The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future; NXT Rumors on Oba Femi

In the latest update from the WWE Universe, Roman Reigns shares insights into his WrestleMania 40 main event experience and thoughts on a potential future clash with The Rock. Meanwhile, boxer Tommy Fury hints at a possible venture into professional wrestling with WWE. Additionally, rumors swirl around NXT star Oba Femi’s recent absence from programming.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and Future Plans

Roman Reigns recently appeared on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, where he opened up about his WrestleMania 40 main event, where he faced off against Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock. WWE initially appeared indecisive about who would take on Reigns at the show’s biggest stage, flipping between Rhodes and The Rock as challengers.

When asked if he was disappointed not to face The Rock, Reigns emphasized that the main event status was what truly mattered to him. “It doesn’t matter to me,” Reigns stated. “I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… We just need to get there and defend this thing. It didn’t matter who it is. They are trying to stop history from happening.”

The storyline leading into WrestleMania 40 featured twists, including Rhodes winning the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble and initially declining a championship match against Reigns, which seemed to open the door for The Rock. Following negative fan reactions, Rhodes reversed his stance, resulting in a heel turn for The Rock who allied with Reigns. On Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins, but Rhodes ultimately overcame Reigns on Night 2 to capture the WWE Championship.

Reigns addressed the possibility of finally facing The Rock in a singles match, mentioning that fan enthusiasm is crucial for WWE to greenlight such a showdown. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said. The Rock made a surprise return to WWE programming at Bad Blood last month but has yet to clarify his long-term plans.

With the upcoming WarGames match between the new and original Bloodline factions at Survivor Series, speculation grows that The Rock might once again appear, potentially laying the groundwork for a future event against his cousin, Reigns.

Tommy Fury Considers WWE After Backstage Visit

Tommy Fury, the undefeated British boxer and younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, recently shared his experiences backstage at a WWE event during the company’s UK tour. On a YouTube video uploaded Sunday, Fury showcased his interactions with WWE Superstars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

Expressing appreciation for the wrestlers and the WWE organization, Fury hinted at the possibility of entering the wrestling world one day. “I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?” he remarked.

Given Tyson Fury’s previous involvement with WWE—including a notable match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a surprise interference at Clash at the Castle 2022—a transition for Tommy Fury into wrestling would not be unprecedented. Tommy’s undefeated boxing record (10-0) and notable win over Jake Paul also position him as a potential WWE contender, especially considering Logan Paul’s established career in WWE. A Fury brothers vs. Paul brothers feud could attract mainstream attention.

Oba Femi’s Absence Raises Questions in NXT

In NXT news, former North American Champion Oba Femi has reportedly been absent from WWE’s NXT tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Fightful Select sources indicate there has been no backstage presence of Femi for over a month, with the reasons for his absence currently unknown.

Femi’s impressive run began after his NXT televised debut in April 2023, during which he won the NXT Breakout Tournament and captured the North American Championship by cashing in on Dragon Lee. He held the title for a record-breaking 272 days before losing it to D’Angelo last month. His subsequent loss in the Halloween Havoc rematch appears to have precipitated his current hiatus.

While some speculate Femi could be nursing an injury or being prepped for a main roster call-up, others believe the NXT creative team is giving him time off television to reset following consecutive losses. Fans can expect Femi, with his strong athletic background and wrestling pedigree, to eventually pursue the NXT Championship upon his return.

Stay tuned for more updates and developments across WWE and the wider pro wrestling world.
