The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a downturn today, marked by a significant drop in global market capitalization and trading volume. Meanwhile, several major developments in the crypto space have occurred, impacting various projects and firms.

Current Market Status

As of today, the global cryptocurrency market capitalization has decreased by 1.6%, now totaling approximately $2.79 trillion. Daily trading volume has also fallen to $86 billion, a decline from previous figures that illustrates reduced trading activity.

Among the top 100 cryptocurrencies, only a handful are showing positive gains. Leading this upswing is Story (IP), which has seen an increase of 7.1%, reaching a price of $4.20. Closely following is Kaspa (KAS), rising 4.7% to stand at $0.07823. On the flip side, the XDC Network (XDC) experienced the most significant decline, dropping 6.9% to $0.07324. Ethena (ENA) is not far behind, with a decrease of 6.7%, bringing its price down to $0.2966. In the top ten cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC) is the sole asset appreciating, with a modest 0.7% rise to $85,548. Conversely, Dogecoin (DOGE) and TRON (TRX) have incurred notable losses, falling by 4.3% and 3.8%, respectively, now trading at $0.1589 and $0.2474. Ethereum (ETH) declined by 2.7%, bringing its price down to $1,630. ## XYO Migrates to Its Own Layer 1 Blockchain

In technical developments, XYO has announced its migration from the Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem to its own Layer 1 blockchain focused on decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN). The launch of a public beta for the new blockchain is set for today.

This transition was prompted by an increasing demand for a blockchain that can manage substantial volumes of real-time data with high throughput and low latency. The new Layer 1 will employ a novel consensus mechanism named Proof of Perfect, which ranks chain tips based on their “perfectness,” allowing for a more efficient chain extension process.

XYO’s upgrade will also feature a dual-token system. The original XYO token will maintain its role in governance, while a new inflationary token, XL1, will cater to high-throughput operations.

Everclear Launches Full Mainnet

The cross-chain clearing and settlement protocol Everclear has just launched its full mainnet, marking a significant milestone for the platform. The team reports the introduction of zero-fee rebalancing for liquidity providers and centralized exchanges on prominent Ethereum-based chains, along with newly added support for Solana.

Everclear aims to diminish fragmentation within the digital asset landscape, comparing its efforts to the historical transformations brought about by Visa and SWIFT in the banking sector. The platform looks to support over 40 different chains by the end of the second quarter of 2025. ## Dana White Joins VeChain as Official Advisor

In notable news from the blockchain sector, Dana White, the CEO of UFC and founder of Power Slap, has joined VeChain as an official advisor. This strategic partnership is intended to enhance the firm’s efforts to drive real-world blockchain adoption.

White will bring his expertise in brand expansion and fan engagement to amplify VeChain’s sustainability initiative, VeBetterDAO.
