PayPal Expands Cryptocurrency Horizons: Introducing Chainlink and Solana for Seamless Transactions!

PayPal Expands Cryptocurrency Offerings with New Tokens: Chainlink and Solana Now Available

San Jose, Calif., April 4, 2025 – PayPal Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: PYPL) has announced that it will expand its cryptocurrency offerings by introducing two new tokens: Chainlink (LINK) and Solana (SOL). This new functionality will allow PayPal and Venmo users to buy, hold, sell, and transfer these cryptocurrencies directly within their respective accounts.

Listening to User Feedback

According to May Zabaneh, Vice President of Product, Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital Currencies at PayPal, the decision to add these tokens stems from direct feedback received from users. “Since we initially made cryptocurrencies available on PayPal and Venmo, we’ve been listening to our users about what they want to do with crypto on our platforms. One piece of feedback we’ve heard is to make additional tokens available that align with our mission of revolutionizing payments,” Zabaneh said.

“This move to offer more tokens on PayPal and Venmo provides users with greater flexibility, choice, and access to digital currencies. This allows for more options to buy, send, or spend within our trusted PayPal and Venmo wallets,” she added.

What Are Chainlink and Solana?

Chainlink (LINK) is recognized as the most widely-adopted platform for data, compute, and cross-chain interoperability. It enables developers to construct more advanced blockchain applications, which can enhance various sectors through integrated data feeds and smart contracts.

On the other hand, Solana (SOL) stands out as a leading blockchain platform that supports an extensive range of decentralized applications and cryptocurrency projects. Users of SOL can engage in the rapidly growing ecosystem, participating in decentralized finance (DeFi), making payments, gaming, and building infrastructure networks run by the community.

Commitment to Traditional Payment Environments

PayPal emphasizes its commitment to providing cryptocurrency options in a secure and familiar environment. The introduction of Chainlink and Solana showcases the company’s efforts to adapt to the changing cryptocurrency landscape while promoting accessibility and engagement within the market.

Users of PayPal and Venmo can expect to see LINK and SOL available for purchase over the coming weeks, enhancing their experience as the platforms continue to evolve.
