Roman Reigns Talks The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Spot; NXT Rumors Surround Oba Femi

Bleacher Report’s latest coverage delivers fresh updates from the WWE Universe, including insights from Roman Reigns on his WrestleMania 40 experiences, boxing star Tommy Fury’s WWE aspirations, and recent developments regarding NXT star Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 and Potential Match with The Rock

Roman Reigns opened up during an interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, sharing his thoughts about the WrestleMania 40 main event and the buzz surrounding his potential clashes with The Rock and Cody Rhodes.

Reigns explained that being in the WrestleMania main event was paramount regardless of the opponent. He said, “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me.”

Initially, after Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble, he announced he would not challenge Reigns, suggesting The Rock would take that role at WrestleMania 40. However, a fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse course. This led to The Rock turning heel as "The Final Boss" and joining forces with Reigns. Together, they defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. On Night 2, Rhodes went on to claim the WWE title from Reigns.

When asked if a match against The Rock could still happen, Reigns hinted at the possibility, emphasizing the influence of fan interest. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said. The Rock’s unannounced return at Bad Blood last month and the upcoming WarGames match featuring the new and original Bloodline members at Survivor Series could pave the way for a future showdown between the cousins.

Tommy Fury Teases WWE Future After UK Tour Backstage Visit

Boxer Tommy Fury recently teased potential WWE involvement following his visit backstage during WWE’s United Kingdom tour. In a YouTube video posting from Sunday, Fury expressed enthusiasm about the wrestling business and hinted at trying his hand in WWE.

He stated, “Big up to Randy Orton… Big up to Cody Rhodes, all of them, Gunther, the lot of them. Thank you to WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through the ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night.”

Tommy Fury, 25, younger brother of heavyweight champ Tyson Fury (who himself wrestled once in WWE at Crown Jewel 2019), is undefeated in professional boxing with a 10-0 record. Notably, he is the only boxer to defeat YouTube personality-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul. Given his connections and family rivalries, a WWE storyline involving the Fury brothers and the Paul brothers—Logan Paul being a current WWE Superstar—could attract mainstream attention.

Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Spurs Speculation

Reports indicate that Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has been absent from NXT tapings for approximately a month. Fightful Select and other sources note that Femi has not been backstage since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. The reasons for this absence remain unclear. It may be a simple break for Femi after suffering two consecutive losses, including dropping the North American Championship he held for a record 272 days. Alternatively, it could signal preparations for either returning stronger, transitioning to WWE’s main roster, or recovering from an injury.

Since debuting on NXT television in April 2023, Femi impressed fans with a dominant breakout tournament win and a solid championship run. If and when he returns, Femi is widely seen as a strong contender for the NXT Championship and a fitting rival for current titleholder Trick Williams.
