Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Career, and NXT Rumors Surround Oba Femi

In the ever-evolving world of WWE, recent developments have captured the attention of wrestling fans worldwide. From Roman Reigns’ candid insights on his WrestleMania 40 main event and potential future matches, to boxer Tommy Fury’s flirtation with a wrestling career, and intriguing rumors surrounding NXT star Oba Femi, here is the latest from the WWE Universe.

Roman Reigns Discusses WrestleMania 40 and The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns shared his thoughts in a revealing interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina. Reflecting on the build-up to WrestleMania 40, Reigns addressed the swinging main event plans involving himself, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes.

When asked if he was disappointed to face Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock in the WrestleMania 40 main event, Reigns expressed that it did not bother him, emphasizing the importance of being in the spotlight regardless of the opponent. “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They’re trying to stop history from happening, trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me,” said Reigns.

Initially, after Cody Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, he declared he would not challenge Reigns at WrestleMania 40, leading to speculation that The Rock would face Reigns instead. However, fan reactions prompted a reversal, culminating in The Rock adopting a heel persona, “The Final Boss,” and aligning with Reigns. Together, The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania. On Night 2, Rhodes achieved a significant victory by capturing the WWE Championship from Reigns.

Reigns also addressed the prospect of a future match against The Rock. He suggested that if fans express enough passion and demand for such a bout, WWE is willing to deliver. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said. The Rock made a surprise return at last month’s Bad Blood event, stirring excitement but leaving his intentions ambiguous. With a major WarGames match at Survivor Series, fans eagerly anticipate whether The Rock will reappear to further set the stage for a potential showdown.

Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Aspirations

Meanwhile, British boxer Tommy Fury — younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who briefly worked with WWE — has dropped intriguing hints about a possible future in professional wrestling.

In a recent YouTube video filmed backstage at a WWE event during the company’s UK tour, Fury expressed admiration for WWE superstars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, and conveyed appreciation for the WWE’s hospitality. “I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?” he mused.

Tommy Fury, 25, boasts a 10-0 professional boxing record and notably handed Jake Paul his sole boxing defeat, enhancing his mainstream appeal. Given the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul saga’s popularity and Logan’s current status as a WWE Superstar and former United States Champion, the prospect of a “Fury brothers vs. Paul brothers” feud or tag team matchup could excite both wrestling and boxing fans, making Tommy a compelling candidate for WWE’s roster in the future.

Oba Femi’s Uncertain Status in NXT

On the developmental front, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been conspicuously absent from tapings over the last month, fueling speculation about his status within the company.

Reported by Fightful Select, Femi has not been seen since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. The reason for his absence remains unclear; it could stem from a need for recuperation after two high-profile defeats or a strategic decision by NXT officials to temporarily pull him from television.

Since debuting on NXT airwaves in April 2023, Femi enjoyed a dominant run, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship with a 272-day reign. His recent downhill trajectory follows surprise losses to D’Angelo, including a rematch at Halloween Havoc.

Whether his time away is for injury recovery, a main roster promotion, or a storyline reset, Femi remains a strong contender to pursue the NXT Championship upon return, possibly positioned to challenge current titleholder Trick Williams.
