Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 and Potential Match with The Rock
During a recent appearance on the Sports Illustrated podcast with Jimmy Traina, WWE superstar Roman Reigns shared his thoughts about the lead-up to WrestleMania 40’s main event and his encounters with both Cody Rhodes and his cousin, The Rock.
Originally, speculation circled around Reigns facing The Rock at WrestleMania 40 after Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble. However, plans shifted with Rhodes initially declining to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania and The Rock’s surprise heel turn, aligning with Reigns as “The Final Boss.”
As a result, the Night 1 main event featured The Rock and Reigns teaming up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins, while the Night 2 main event concluded with Rhodes winning the WWE Championship from Reigns.
When asked if he was disappointed to face Rhodes instead of The Rock, Reigns was clear: it did not matter to him who he faced as long as he was in the spotlight.
“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy everyone wanted to dance with… They’re trying to stop history from happening. It was the same task in hand for me,” Reigns stated.
Looking ahead, Reigns acknowledged a potential future showdown with The Rock might still be on the horizon—if the fans demand it.
“If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he explained.
The Rock last made an unannounced WWE appearance at the Bad Blood event in October but has remained absent since. With the ongoing storyline fever between the new and original Bloodline factions climaxing at Survivor Series through a WarGames match, fans speculate The Rock might reemerge to reignite the familial rivalry.
Boxing Star Tommy Fury Considers WWE Opportunity
Tommy Fury, the undefeated professional boxer and younger brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, hinted at possible plans to enter WWE.
In a YouTube video posted Sunday, Tommy gave fans a backstage look at a WWE show during the company’s recent UK tour, interacting with stars such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
“Thank you to WWE for showing us such appreciation. I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?” said Fury.
Tommy has built his reputation in the boxing world with a perfect 10-0 record, including a victory over influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. His ties to the Paul family and WWE connections hint at the potential for intriguing storylines, possibly involving Logan Paul, who is currently a WWE Superstar and former United States Champion.
With Tyson Fury’s past WWE involvement—highlighted by a one-off match at Crown Jewel 2019 and his memorable interference at Clash at the Castle in 2022—the Fury name may bring additional star power to WWE if Tommy takes the plunge.
Oba Femi Quietly Absent from NXT Following Two Recent Losses
Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has not appeared on recent NXT tapings, according to Fightful Select.
Femi has been off the radar since October 27’s Halloween Havoc, where he lost the North American Championship to Tony D’Angelo, ending his record-setting 272-day reign. He also fell short in a rematch at the same event.
Despite his dominant run since debuting on NXT television in April 2023—including winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American title—Femi’s absence from recent shows has sparked speculation.
Reasons for his time away are unclear. It may be a strategic break to regroup after high-profile losses, a possible injury, or even preparation for a main roster call-up. Wrestling insiders suggest that when Femi returns, he could be positioned as a leading contender for the NXT Championship, potentially dethroning current champion Trick Williams.
