WWE Universe Update: Roman Reigns, The Rock, Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury, and Oba Femi News

Bleacher Report recently caught up with the latest buzz from WWE and its broader wrestling landscape, shedding light on Roman Reigns’ reflections on WrestleMania 40, Tommy Fury’s potential WWE aspirations, and rumors surrounding NXT standout Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 and The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns shared candid thoughts on his WrestleMania 40 main event experience, during an interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina. Reigns revealed that he was indifferent about whether he faced The Rock or Cody Rhodes, emphasizing that being in the main event spotlight was what mattered most.

"It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… It was the same task in hand for me," said Reigns.

Initially, following Cody Rhodes’ victory in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, Rhodes declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, leading fans to believe The Rock would step in. Fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse his stance, whereas The Rock turned heel—becoming "The Final Boss"—and aligned with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1, with Rhodes ultimately defeating Reigns for the WWE title on Night 2. Reigns was asked about the possibility of a future showdown with The Rock, acknowledging that the move would depend on fan support.

"If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen," he noted.

The Rock recently made a surprise WWE appearance at the "Bad Blood" event last month. With the upcoming Survivor Series, where different Bloodline factions will face off in a WarGames match, speculation is rife that The Rock may appear again and possibly begin a storyline confrontation with Reigns.

Tommy Fury Hints at a Wrestling Career with WWE

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, teased a potential wrestling venture during a backstage visit to WWE’s UK tour, as shared in a YouTube video. Meeting WWE stars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, Fury expressed gratitude and intrigue about stepping into the squared circle professionally.

"I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night," Fury said.

Tommy Fury is undefeated with a 10-0 professional boxing record and notably handed Jake Paul his first boxing loss. Given the Paul family’s WWE involvement—especially Logan Paul’s tenure as a WWE Superstar and former U.S. Champion—a storyline involving the Fury and Paul brothers could attract a mainstream audience and boost WWE’s crossover appeal.

Tyson Fury’s previous WWE involvement includes a one-off match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a high-profile incident stopping Austin Theory’s Money in the Bank cash-in at WWE Clash at the Castle 2022. —

NXT Star Oba Femi’s Recent Absence Raises Questions

Oba Femi, a former NXT North American Champion and breakout star, has reportedly been absent from NXT tapings in recent weeks following back-to-back losses. His setback began with a surprise title loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, followed by a rematch defeat, after which he has not appeared on NXT television.

Fightful Select reports no backstage sightings of Femi since then, prompting speculation around reasons for his absence. Possible explanations include a strategic TV hiatus to allow him to recover from his losses or a potential injury. Alternatively, Femi might be preparing for a main roster call-up, given his strong presence since his 2023 debut.

Femi had a remarkable initial run, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American Championship for a record 272 days. Should he return, he is seen as a prime contender for the NXT Championship and a key figure in NXT’s future.

Looking Ahead

The WWE Universe can expect ongoing developments, with Roman Reigns potentially clashing with The Rock, Tommy Fury’s possible wrestling debut generating buzz, and Oba Femi’s status awaiting clarity. With WrestleMania and Survivor Series drama still unfolding, WWE fans have plenty to anticipate in the coming months.
