Latest WWE Updates: Roman Reigns on The Rock and Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Career, Oba Femi’s NXT Absence

Bleacher Report brings you the latest insights and rumors circulating within the WWE Universe, including Roman Reigns’ candid comments about WrestleMania 40 opponents, boxer Tommy Fury showing interest in pro wrestling, and reports regarding Oba Femi’s recent absence from NXT programming.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and The Rock Match Possibility

In a recent interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE’s reigning star Roman Reigns shared his thoughts regarding the high-profile main event situations at WrestleMania 40 and his feelings about facing either Cody Rhodes or The Rock.

Reigns discussed the uncertainty leading to WrestleMania’s biggest match, explaining that while it was initially anticipated he would face The Rock, a switch was made placing him against Rhodes instead. When asked if he was disappointed to face Rhodes over The Rock, Reigns maintained his focus on being in the main event itself rather than the opponent.

“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy everyone wanted to dance with. It’s where we just need to get there and defend this thing. It didn’t matter who it is. They are trying to stop history from happening,” Reigns stated.

The narrative at WrestleMania 40 unfolded with The Rock turning heel and aligning himself with Reigns after fan backlash regarding the initial plans. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1. However, Rhodes ultimately captured the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. Looking ahead, Reigns suggested a potential future matchup with The Rock remains possible, contingent on fan demand.

“If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” Reigns explained.

The Rock, who made an unannounced WWE appearance last month at Bad Blood, has remained mostly off WWE programming since, but upcoming events such as the WarGames match at Survivor Series may provide another platform for him to re-enter storylines involving Reigns and The Bloodline faction.

Tommy Fury Hints at Possible WWE Career

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, has recently hinted at the possibility of pursuing a professional wrestling career with WWE. While backstage at a WWE event during the company’s UK tour, Tommy shared his enthusiasm via a YouTube video.

He praised WWE superstars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther and expressed openness to the idea of stepping into the wrestling ring:

“I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?” Fury said.

Tommy Fury holds an undefeated professional boxing record and notably defeated influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. His potential crossover into WWE could spark fresh interest, especially considering WWE Superstar Logan Paul’s connection with his family, setting the stage for intriguing wrestling storylines involving the Fury and Paul brothers.

Oba Femi Reportedly Missing from NXT TV and Tapings

Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion and breakout star, has been conspicuously absent from WWE’s NXT tapings and television shows over the past month. Sources reported to Fightful Select reveal that Femi has not been seen backstage since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at the October 27 Halloween Havoc event.

Femi’s absence follows a tough period, where he dropped the North American Championship after a record 272-day reign and then lost a rematch to D’Angelo. The reasons for his hiatus remain unknown—it could be a strategic break for character reset, an injury, or a preparation phase before moving up to WWE’s main roster.

Given his past dominance, Femi is considered a strong candidate for future title pursuits upon his return, possibly challenging the NXT Champion Trick Williams down the line.
