Roman Reigns Opens Up About The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Debut; Oba Femi Absent from NXT

In recent developments across the WWE Universe, several notable stories have emerged involving some of wrestling’s biggest names and promising talents. Roman Reigns shared insights on his high-profile WrestleMania 40 main event, Tommy Fury hinted at a potential WWE future, and NXT star Oba Femi’s current status remains uncertain.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns recently appeared on the Sports Illustrated Media podcast, where he discussed his involvement in WrestleMania 40 and the shifting plans surrounding the main event opponent slot. Reigns was booked opposite Cody Rhodes, though The Rock had initially seemed poised to face off with the Universal and WWE Undisputed Champion.

Asked if he was disappointed to go up against Rhodes instead of The Rock, Reigns dismissed the notion, emphasizing his focus on being the main event and defending his title regardless of the opponent. He said, “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with … They are trying to stop history from happening. It was the same task in hand for me.”

The WrestleMania build saw dramatic twists — Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but at first declined to challenge Reigns, which seemed to open the door for The Rock. Fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse course, leading to The Rock turning heel as “The Final Boss” and aligning with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1, with Rhodes capturing the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. With the much-anticipated Reigns vs. Rock one-on-one dream match not taking place, host Jimmy Traina asked if it could still be in the cards. Reigns indicated it depends on fan demand: “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock made a surprise return last month at Bad Blood but has remained absent since. With the upcoming WarGames match at Survivor Series featuring different iterations of The Bloodline, speculation suggests it could be an ideal moment for The Rock to make a reappearance and start building toward a future showdown with his cousin Reigns.

Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Career Possibility

British boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, has teased his potential entrance into WWE. During a recent UK WWE tour, Fury posted a YouTube video where he expressed gratitude to WWE superstars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, and hinted at climbing into the ring someday.

Fury said, “I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night.”

Tommy Fury is currently undefeated as a professional boxer (10-0) and is notably the only fighter to have defeated Jake Paul. Given Tyson Fury’s past involvement with WWE — including a match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a notable appearance at Clash at the Castle 2022 — Tommy’s willingness aligns with a growing trend of crossover appeal between combat sports and sports entertainment.

His connections with the Paul family, alongside Logan Paul’s existing role in WWE, could pave the way for intriguing storyline opportunities, such as a potential Fury brothers vs. Paul brothers rivalry. WWE may well keep him in mind for a future role that could broaden their mainstream audience.

Oba Femi’s Recent NXT Absence Sparks Rumors

NXT’s former North American Champion Oba Femi has not been seen on television or backstage at NXT tapings for the past month, according to Fightful Select. Since losing the North American Championship to Tony D’Angelo at the Halloween Havoc event on October 27, Femi has been noticeably absent.

Femi enjoyed a strong run since debuting on NXT in April 2023, capturing the NXT Breakout Tournament and winning the North American title by defeating Dragon Lee. He held the championship for a record-setting 272 days before his first televised loss to D’Angelo.

His current absence is unconfirmed but could indicate several possibilities, including a temporary break to regain momentum after consecutive losses, preparation for a WWE main roster call-up, or managing a potential injury.

If and when Oba Femi returns, many insiders believe he remains a prime candidate for an NXT Championship run, especially given his impressive collegiate athletic background and prior dominance in NXT’s mid-card division.

Looking Ahead

With WrestleMania 40 now behind us, WWE fans are eager to see if Reigns and The Rock will deliver the long-anticipated clash down the line, and whether Tommy Fury will take his next steps toward becoming a wrestling star. Meanwhile, the future plans for Oba Femi remain a hot topic within the developmental system as NXT continues to evolve.

Stay tuned for further updates from the world of professional wrestling as these stories develop.
