StanChart Executive Calls Ethereum ‘Cheap’ at Current Levels, Maintains Bullish Outlook

August 27, 2025 – Geoffrey Kendrick, the global head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered, has expressed a bullish stance on Ethereum (ETH), describing the cryptocurrency as “cheap” at its current market price. Despite recent market volatility, Kendrick reaffirmed his forecast that ETH could reach $7,500 by the end of 2025, marking a potential 68% increase from current valuations.

ETH Market Update

At the time of reporting, Ethereum is trading just below $4,600, amid a broader crypto market showing mixed performance. Bitcoin (BTC) sits near $112,954, up by 1.90%, while Solana (SOL) has surged 4.45% to $210. Other notable cryptocurrencies such as PEPE, SHIB, DOGE, and XRP are relatively stable with modest gains ranging from 0.17% to 1.95%.

Ethereum’s gas fees remain low, with the latest measurements around 0.26 gwei, which contributes to its ongoing usability and network activity.

Recent Market Movements and Analysis

Ethereum touched an all-time high of $4,955 on August 24th, before experiencing a sharp, 5% correction on August 26th. It rebounded strongly over the next 24 hours, rising about 4.4% to trade near $4,624.34, outperforming Bitcoin and broader crypto indices during this period.

Kendrick views the recent dip below $4,500 as an excellent entry point for new investors and sees the pullback as a healthy price correction rather than a setback to his bullish target.

Growing Corporate Interest in Ethereum

Highlighting significant trends, Kendrick pointed out that Ethereum Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) companies have accumulated 2.6% of all circulating Ether since June. Concurrently, spot ETH exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have absorbed another 4.9% of the circulating supply in the same timeframe.

This growing institutional interest is fueling demand and pushing liquidity away from exchanges—evidenced by a net outflow of approximately 74,500 ETH (valued at $344 million) from centralized exchanges like Binance in a 24-hour window. Reduced supply on exchanges coupled with increased demand from staking and ETFs could lead to further price appreciation.

Ethereum Treasury Firms and Valuation Insights

Kendrick also evaluated the valuation of Ethereum treasury companies such as SharpLink Gaming and Bitmine Immersion, noting their net asset values (NAV) have dipped below those of comparable investments like MicroStrategy (MSTR). Given that ETH treasury firms receive a 3% staking yield on their holdings, Kendrick argues there is no fundamental reason for their valuations to lag behind similarly positioned firms.

SharpLink Gaming’s recent announcement to repurchase shares if its market-to-NAV ratio falls below 1.0 was cited as a mechanism imposing a “hard floor” on its valuation, providing an additional layer of investor confidence.

Technical Outlook and Resistance Levels

From a technical perspective, Ethereum has surged over 10% in the past week. Positive catalysts include a historic short squeeze, liquidity shifts, whale accumulation, and bullish breakout patterns overcoming critical resistance points.

However, the latest analysis shows ETH may face near-term resistance around the $4,630 level. A successful breach above $4,720 could pave the way toward the next resistance zone at $4,840. ### Conclusion

Standard Chartered’s Geoffrey Kendrick remains optimistic about Ethereum’s long-term prospects despite recent price fluctuations. His outlook suggests that institutional buys, ETF inflows, staking yields, and technical bullishness could collectively drive Ethereum toward his ambitious $7,500 price target by the end of 2025, reinforcing Ethereum’s position as a cornerstone asset in the digital currency landscape.
