Roman Reigns Discusses The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future; NXT Rumors Around Oba Femi

Bleacher Report recently caught up with some of the latest buzz surrounding WWE, including insights from Roman Reigns, boxing star Tommy Fury’s potential wrestling ambitions, and speculation about NXT’s Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Opens Up on WrestleMania 40 Opponents The Rock and Cody Rhodes

In an interview on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina, WWE’s Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on WrestleMania 40’s main event scenario, which saw him face Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock. Reigns revealed he was indifferent about which opponent he faced, as long as he was in the spotlight:

“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… The task was the same — defending my place at the pinnacle.”

The storyline had initially pointed towards a Reigns vs. The Rock match after Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. When fan backlash surfaced over this change, Rhodes reversed his stance, which led to The Rock turning heel and joining forces with Reigns as The Final Boss. The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, but on Night 2, Rhodes defeated Reigns to secure the WWE title.

When asked about a potential match with The Rock in the future, Reigns expressed openness, emphasizing fan demand as a key factor:

“If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock had made a surprise return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has yet to clarify his future intentions. With The Bloodline set for a WarGames match at Survivor Series, there’s speculation The Rock could reappear to eventually set up a high-profile bout against Reigns.

Tommy Fury Interested in Exploring WWE

British boxer Tommy Fury has hinted at a possible future in professional wrestling. In a video posted on YouTube from a recent WWE UK tour event, Fury revealed he enjoyed the environment and praised several WWE stars, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther. He concluded:

“I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?”

Fury, 25, follows in the footsteps of his older brother Tyson Fury, who had a brief WWE stint culminating in a single match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a notable appearance at Clash at the Castle 2022, where he famously knocked out Austin Theory.

With Tommy’s undefeated boxing record (10-0) and his win over Jake Paul, he has built his own fame. Given Logan Paul’s WWE presence and Tommy’s connections to the Paul family, a wrestling storyline involving the Fury and Paul brothers could appeal to a broad audience and increase WWE’s mainstream interest.

NXT’s Oba Femi Absent Amid Recent Losses

Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has reportedly been missing from recent NXT tapings throughout November. Fightful Select reports his absence following setbacks at Halloween Havoc on October 27, when he lost the North American Championship to Tony D’Angelo and subsequently suffered a rematch defeat.

Since his rise starting with an April 2023 televised debut, Femi had a dominant run, including winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American title for a record 272 days before his recent losses.

Reasons for his current absence are unclear — it could be a strategic break to cool off after tough losses, a preparation period for a main roster call-up, or time needed to heal from injury. Upon his return, Femi is viewed as a strong contender for the NXT Championship, potentially positioned to dethrone current titleholder Trick Williams.
