Roman Reigns Talks The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE; NXT’s Oba Femi Absence Sparks Rumors

Bleacher Report brings you the latest news and updates from the world of WWE, including insights from Roman Reigns, potential new signings, and updates from NXT.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Main Event Choices and The Rock Match Prospects

Roman Reigns recently spoke candidly about the main-event decisions surrounding WrestleMania 40 and his thoughts on facing either The Rock or Cody Rhodes in the spotlight. During an interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, Reigns revealed that it didn’t matter to him who he faced as long as he was in the main event.

He explained, “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy everyone wanted to dance with… They’re trying to stop history from happening, trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me.” This came amid WWE’s back-and-forth about whether Reigns would face The Rock or Rhodes, following Rhodes’ victory in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble.

After initial plans seemed to lean towards The Rock challenging Reigns for the WWE Championship, fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse his decision, leading to The Rock turning heel as “The Final Boss” and teaming with Reigns. The duo triumphed over Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 40, with Rhodes eventually capturing the WWE title from Reigns on Night 2. When asked about the possibility of a future match with The Rock, Reigns suggested it could happen if the WWE Universe expressed enough interest. He stated, “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.” The Rock made a surprise WWE appearance last month at Bad Blood but has yet to clarify his next steps. With the upcoming WarGames match at Survivor Series featuring different factions of The Bloodline, speculation is swirling that The Rock may return to build toward a high-profile showdown with Reigns.

Boxer Tommy Fury Hints at Future WWE Endeavors

British professional boxer Tommy Fury hinted at a potential future in WWE following his recent backstage visit to a WWE show during the company’s UK tour. Posting a video on YouTube, Fury shared his experiences meeting WWE stars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther. He expressed gratitude for WWE’s hospitality and teased, “I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?”

Tommy comes from a notable boxing family; his older brother Tyson Fury briefly dabbled in WWE with a match at Crown Jewel 2019 and memorable appearances at WWE events since. Tommy’s undefeated professional boxing record, including a win over Jake Paul, positions him well for crossover appeal. Given Logan Paul’s growing WWE presence, a potential rivalry or tag team match involving the Fury and Paul brothers could attract mainstream attention.

NXT Star Oba Femi Reported Absent Amid Rumors

Oba Femi, the former NXT North American Champion, has reportedly been absent from WWE’s NXT tapings for over a month. According to Fightful Select, Femi has not been seen since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, with no information available about the reasons for his absence.

Femi burst onto the NXT scene in April 2023 with a dominant run that included winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship from Dragon Lee. His title reign lasted a record 272 days until his surprising defeats to D’Angelo. The recent absence could be a strategic break to regroup after consecutive losses, an injury hiatus, or possibly preparation for a main roster call-up.

Fans expect that whenever Femi returns, he could emerge as a strong contender for the NXT Championship and might be positioned as a top challenger to the current champion, Trick Williams.
