Samsung and Yahoo Media Group Partner to Bring Live Sports and Financial Market Updates to Samsung News
October 1, 2025
Samsung is enhancing the news experience for Galaxy users by integrating live sports scores and real-time financial market information directly within Samsung News. This marks the first major expansion of features in the Samsung News app, made possible through a new partnership with Yahoo Media Group, the operator of Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance.
From the latest buzzer-beaters in sports to critical market movements, Galaxy users can now access up-to-the-minute updates in a seamless and personalized way, all without leaving the Samsung ecosystem. The update introduces a dedicated Sports tab alongside a new stock market module powered by Yahoo’s trusted sports and finance platforms.
Real-Time Sports Coverage at Your Fingertips
The newly added Sports tab offers fans live access to scores, schedules, standings, and player statistics from leading sports leagues. Users can tailor their experience by following their favorite teams and sports, ensuring they receive personalized updates that matter most. Whether tracking a close game or catching up on highlights, the Sports tab will serve as a go-to destination for sports enthusiasts.
Stay on Top of Market Movements
Financial market watchers will benefit from a robust upgrade featuring a dedicated Yahoo Finance module within Samsung News. This addition provides real-time tracking of major U.S. financial indices along with a curated stream of financial headlines sourced from top news outlets. The module aims to keep users informed of market shifts, economic developments, and expert insights, enabling smarter, faster decisions on the go.
Maya Harris, Vice President and Head of Strategic Partnerships for Samsung’s TV & Mobile Services, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Galaxy users turn to Samsung News multiple times a day for the latest headlines from the world’s top news sources. Now they have another critical reason to tune in for access to live sports scores and financial markets updates. With Yahoo’s trusted real-time information, Samsung News is a live destination for sports fans and market followers alike.”
Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group, also expressed excitement about the partnership: “We’re thrilled to partner with Samsung to integrate both Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance into the Samsung News experience. Together, we’re creating a smarter, faster way for Galaxy users to follow the scores, news, and market information that matters most to them.”
Comprehensive News Experience Beyond Sports and Finance
In addition to this new focus on sports and financial data, Samsung News continues to deliver a broad range of news content across topics including politics, entertainment, and business. Users can enjoy twice-daily Daily Briefings curated by experienced news editors and customize their newsfeeds with content from Samsung’s extensive network of partners such as NBC News, ESPN, Fox Business, Complex, and Time Out.
The feature update is currently available in English for users in the United States and Canada and will soon expand to additional languages and territories. It is compatible with all Galaxy smartphones and tablets released from 2023 onward.
With this innovative update, Samsung News strengthens its position as a comprehensive source of timely and personalized news and updates, integrating the most relevant sports and market data for Galaxy users worldwide.
