Roman Reigns Discusses The Rock and Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Career; Oba Femi Absent from NXT
Bleacher Report recently provided an in-depth update on some of the hottest topics within the WWE Universe, including Roman Reigns’ reflections on WrestleMania 40, Tommy Fury’s potential wrestling ambitions, and rumors surrounding NXT star Oba Femi.
Roman Reigns Opens Up on WrestleMania 40 and Future with The Rock
In a candid interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE superstar Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on the storyline dynamics involving The Rock and Cody Rhodes during WrestleMania 40. Reigns was asked whether he felt disappointed about facing Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock in the WrestleMania 40 main event. Reigns was clear that it did not matter to him who the opponent was, as long as he was in the spotlight as the main eventer. He remarked:
"It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me."
After Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, he originally declared he wouldn’t challenge Reigns at WrestleMania, which set the stage for The Rock to step in. However, following backlash from fans, Rhodes reversed his decision, leading to The Rock turning heel — adopting the moniker “The Final Boss” — and aligning with Reigns.
The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, before Rhodes captured the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. Looking ahead, Reigns was asked if a match against The Rock could still happen. He replied that if the fans remain passionate and vocal about wanting the matchup, WWE is open to making it a reality:
"If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen."
The Rock made a surprise appearance at the WWE Bad Blood event last month but has not clearly stated his next moves. With a WarGames match between the new and original Bloodline factions scheduled at the upcoming Survivor Series, many speculate The Rock’s return could help build toward a future match against Reigns.
Tommy Fury Hints at Possible WWE Career
Boxer Tommy Fury, the younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has teased the possibility of entering WWE in the future. Posting a video to YouTube from backstage during WWE’s recent United Kingdom tour, Tommy revealed his admiration for WWE talent like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
He said:
"All the wrestlers showing love… Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night."
Tommy Fury, undefeated at 10-0 in professional boxing and known for being the only person to defeat Jake Paul, could add a compelling dynamic to WWE storylines—especially considering the Paul family’s existing relationships with WWE and Tommy’s familial ties.
Given Logan Paul’s status as a WWE Superstar, potential family rivalries or tag team events involving the Fury and Paul brothers could capture the attention of mainstream and wrestling audiences alike.
Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Sparks Speculation
Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT tapings since late October, according to Fightful Select. The former University of Alabama shot put star had a dominant NXT run after debuting in April 2023, highlighted by winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and a record-setting 272-day North American Championship reign.
Femi’s absence follows back-to-back losses to Tony D’Angelo, including a title loss at Halloween Havoc and a subsequent rematch defeat. As of now, the reason for his hiatus is unclear.
Potential explanations range from needing time to recover or reset after the defeats, being kept off TV to refresh his character, or positioning him for a future call-up to WWE’s main roster. When he returns, many insiders believe Femi is primed as a contender for the NXT Championship, potentially positioning him to dethrone current champion Trick Williams.
