Bleacher Report brings you the latest buzz from the WWE Universe, spotlighting candid insights from WWE’s top stars and emerging talents.
Roman Reigns Talks WrestleMania 40, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes
In a revealing interview on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina, Roman Reigns, known as "The Tribal Chief," shared his thoughts regarding his WrestleMania 40 main event opponents—Cody Rhodes and The Rock. The WWE landscape buzzed with speculation over who would face Reigns at the event after Rhodes initially won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble but did not immediately challenge Reigns. The Rock appeared poised to fill that spot, only for Rhodes to reverse his stance amid fan backlash. This sequence culminated in The Rock turning heel, aligning with Reigns as “The Final Boss.” The duo defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1, but Rhodes ultimately claimed the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. Regarding the main event switch, Reigns expressed he wasn’t bothered by whom he faced, emphasizing his role as the centerpiece of WrestleMania:
"It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… It was the same task in hand for me."
When prompted about a potential future showdown with The Rock, Reigns left the door open, contingent on fan demand:
"If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen."
Fans may recall The Rock’s surprise reappearance at last month’s Bad Blood event, sparking speculation about his future WWE involvement. With the ongoing rivalry between the new and original Bloodline factions heating up—highlighted by a WarGames match at Survivor Series—many expect The Rock to re-emerge as a pivotal figure hinting at a possible high-stakes match with Reigns.
Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Interest Amid UK Tour Visit
Rising British boxing star Tommy Fury, brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, teased a future in professional wrestling after attending WWE’s recent tour in the United Kingdom.
Sharing a backstage YouTube video, Fury expressed his appreciation for WWE talent like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther. He also left fans intrigued with a nod toward possibly entering the wrestling world:
"I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night."
Tommy Fury, whose flawless 10-0 boxing record includes the rare victory over influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul, could be a natural WWE fit. Given his connection with the Paul family, speculation swirls about potential storylines, including a brother-versus-brother rivalry with Logan Paul, a current WWE Superstar and former United States Champion.
His older brother Tyson Fury’s past WWE involvement—highlighted by a 2019 Crown Jewel match and a memorable interference at Clash at the Castle in 2022—adds weight to the idea Tommy may eventually transition into sports entertainment.
Oba Femi Absent from NXT Programming; Future Plans Unclear
Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has been notably absent from recent NXT tapings following two consecutive losses, including his title defeat to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Reports from Fightful Select indicate no backstage activity involving Femi since then. While the reasons for the hiatus remain undisclosed, possibilities range from injury recovery to a storyline reset after a tough period in NXT.
Since his April 2023 debut, Femi quickly made an impact—winning the NXT Breakout Tournament, capturing the North American title with a record 272-day reign, and establishing himself as a formidable competitor. Despite his recent setbacks, many see Femi as a prime candidate for a main roster call-up or as a future NXT Championship contender, potentially targeting current titleholder Trick Williams.
His return is awaited by fans eager to see the athletic powerhouse reassert his dominance within WWE’s developmental territory.
