Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future; NXT’s Oba Femi Absent

In the latest WWE news and rumors update, several key storylines and personalities have been in the spotlight. Roman Reigns recently shared his thoughts on WrestleMania 40, discussing his matches against Cody Rhodes and the possibility of facing The Rock. Meanwhile, boxer Tommy Fury is hinting at a potential future in professional wrestling with WWE, and former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has not appeared on recent shows, sparking speculation about his status.

Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 40 and The Rock

During an interview on the SI Media podcast, hosted by Jimmy Traina, Roman Reigns addressed the main event landscape of WrestleMania 40, where he faced Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock—whom many fans had anticipated. Reigns emphasized that, as the reigning champion, he was focused on defending his title regardless of the opponent.

"When Traina asked if I was disappointed to face Rhodes rather than The Rock, I said it doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy everyone wants to dance with," Reigns said, adding, "They’re trying to stop history from happening, trying to take us off the pinnacle. It was the same task no matter who it was."

The situation stemmed from Rhodes winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble but initially declining to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship. This led to The Rock seemingly stepping into the main event spotlight. Following fan backlash, Rhodes reversed his stance, which resulted in The Rock turning heel as The Final Boss and aligning with Reigns. Together, The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, while Rhodes captured the WWE title from Reigns on Night 2. When asked if a future match against The Rock remains possible, Reigns indicated it depends on fan demand. "If the fans are loud enough and passionate enough, we’re not dictated to—we know who’s paying their hard-earned money, and we want to satisfy those people," he said. "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen."

The Rock made a surprise return at the recent WWE Bad Blood event but has yet to clarify his intentions. With an upcoming WarGames match at Survivor Series featuring both the new and original Bloodline factions, many speculate this could be the perfect moment for The Rock’s reappearance and the possible seed of a future showdown with Reigns.

Tommy Fury Shows Interest in WWE

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, has suggested he may explore opportunities in WWE. Posting a backstage video from a recent WWE UK tour, he expressed enthusiasm about the WWE environment and connections made with stars such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

"So guys, that is a night at the WWE complete. All the wrestlers showing love. Big up to Randy Orton, absolutely amazing guy. Big up to Cody Rhodes, all of them, Gunther, the lot of them. Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation," Fury said. "And I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night."

Tommy Fury has developed a strong boxing record of 10-0 and holds a notable victory over Jake Paul. Given his ties to the Paul family, a potential wrestling rivalry or partnership with Logan Paul—currently a WWE Superstar and former U.S. Champion—could appeal to a wider mainstream audience. WWE is likely monitoring Fury’s potential crossover appeal carefully.

Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Sparks Speculation

In NXT news, former North American Champion Oba Femi has reportedly been absent from NXT tapings over the past month following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Fightful Select noted no appearances or backstage presence for Femi since that event.

After a promising start—winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American title for a record 272 days—Femi suffered consecutive losses to D’Angelo, including the title loss and a rematch. His recent absence has sparked questions about whether he might be dealing with an injury, preparing for a main roster call-up, or simply being held off TV to reset after those defeats.

Should Femi return to NXT programming, he is expected to remain a key player and a strong contender for the NXT Championship moving forward.

As WWE continues to build toward future events and storylines, fans can expect to see more developments involving these wrestlers and potential new entrants like Tommy Fury. Stay tuned for further updates from the WWE Universe.
