Roman Reigns Reflects on The Rock, Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE, and NXT Rumors on Oba Femi

In the latest updates from the WWE Universe, Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on his WrestleMania 40 main event opponents The Rock and Cody Rhodes, boxer Tommy Fury hinted at a future in professional wrestling with WWE, and NXT star Oba Femi’s recent absence has sparked speculation among fans and insiders.

Roman Reigns Opens Up About WrestleMania 40 Main Event and Possible Rock Match

During a recent interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, Roman Reigns discussed the evolving plans for WrestleMania 40’s main event. Initially, it appeared Reigns would clash with The Rock, his famed cousin and WWE legend. However, Cody Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble and surprisingly declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, putting The Rock in the spot. After an intense fan backlash and storyline twists—including The Rock turning heel and aligning with Reigns—WrestleMania’s two-night event featured The Rock and Reigns teaming to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1, with Rhodes reclaiming the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. Asked if he was disappointed not to face The Rock one-on-one, Reigns emphasized it did not matter to him who the opponent was, as long as he was in the main event spotlight. “I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with,” Reigns said. He explained that regardless of opponent, his role was to defend his championship and uphold his status at the pinnacle of WWE.

Reigns further teased the possibility of a future match against The Rock, stating that if the fans are passionate and vocal enough, WWE could make it happen. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said. The Rock made an unexpected return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has not yet clarified his career intentions, fueling speculation that a Rock versus Reigns showdown could be in the cards as the WWE’s Bloodline factions continue their rivalry.

Tommy Fury Teases WWE Ambitions After Backstage Visit

In other WWE news, British boxer Tommy Fury—the younger brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury—may be eyeing a future wrestling career. Fury recently posted a YouTube video showing him backstage at a WWE event during the company’s UK tour. Meeting superstars including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, Fury expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hinted at stepping into the WWE ring someday.

“So guys, that is a night at the WWE complete. All the wrestlers showing love… I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?” Fury said.

Tommy Fury, boasting a professional boxing record of 10-0 and known for a high-profile victory over Jake Paul, could represent a fascinating crossover star for WWE. Given his ties to the Paul family and Logan Paul’s active WWE presence, a potential feud or tag team involving the Fergus and Paul brothers could captivate mainstream audiences.

Oba Femi’s Absence Fuels NXT Speculation

Meanwhile, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT programming since his loss at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Reports confirm he has not been seen backstage at NXT tapings for nearly a month.

Femi initially made a strong impact after debuting in April 2023, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship in his first title match. His impressive reign lasted a record 272 days before Tony D’Angelo defeated him and then retained the belt in a rematch at Halloween Havoc.

Though the reasons for Femi’s absence remain unclear—it could range from injury recovery to a temporary creative hiatus—fans are hopeful for his return soon. With his talent and momentum, Femi is considered a prime candidate to challenge for the NXT Championship and potentially dethrone current champion Trick Williams.
