Roman Reigns Discusses The Rock, Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future, and NXT Rumors on Oba Femi

Bleacher Report brings you the latest updates from the WWE Universe, including insights from Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 40, Tommy Fury’s potential WWE ambitions, and rumors surrounding NXT star Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Main Event and Future Matchups

Roman Reigns recently appeared on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, where he opened up about his WrestleMania 40 experience, including the high-profile matchups involving Cody Rhodes and The Rock.

Reigns revealed that he was not bothered by having to face Rhodes instead of The Rock in the main event, emphasizing that the opponent was less important than being the focal point of the show. “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with,” Reigns said. He described the challenge as a battle to “defend this thing” and stop others from toppling his reign.

Following Rhodes’s victory in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, initial plans seemed to position The Rock as Reigns’s WrestleMania opponent. However, fan backlash led Rhodes to reconsider and challenge Reigns, while The Rock turned heel, adopting the persona “The Final Boss” and aligning with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, but Rhodes ultimately captured the WWE Championship by defeating Reigns on Night 2. When asked about a potential future match with The Rock, Reigns indicated that it remains a possibility if the fans demand it. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he stated. The Rock has made a surprise return recently at WWE’s Bad Blood event but has not clarified his intentions or returned since.

With a major WarGames match featuring members of The Bloodline set for Survivor Series, speculation is high that The Rock may reappear to further build toward a dream showdown with his cousin Roman Reigns.

Tommy Fury Shows Interest in WWE Career

British professional boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former world heavyweight champ Tyson Fury, appears intrigued by the possibility of joining WWE. During a recent backstage visit at a WWE event in the UK, Tommy shared his experiences in a YouTube video, praising WWE talents like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

He remarked, “I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?” Tommy Fury’s undefeated boxing record (10-0) and his unique victory over Jake Paul place him in a strong position to crossover into pro wrestling.

Given the existing WWE connections with the Fury and Paul families, Tommy Fury could eventually develop into a mainstream WWE star. Potential storylines might include feuds or tag team matches involving Logan Paul, enhancing WWE’s appeal to a broader audience.

Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Sparks Speculation

Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has reportedly been absent from NXT tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Fightful Select highlighted that there have been no backstage sightings or mentions of Femi in recent weeks.

Femi, who debuted on NXT television in April 2023, quickly rose through the ranks by winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship. His title reign lasted a record 272 days before being ended by D’Angelo. After a rematch loss at Halloween Havoc, Femi has not appeared on NXT TV.

His absence could be attributed to various factors, such as recovery from injury, a planned main roster call-up, or a storyline reset following two consecutive losses. Upon his return, many fans and observers expect Femi to be a strong contender for the NXT Championship, potentially challenging current titleholder Trick Williams.
