Roman Reigns Reflects on The Rock, Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence

The WWE Universe has been buzzing with recent developments involving some of its top stars and emerging talents. From Roman Reigns sharing insights about his WrestleMania 40 experiences and The Rock to boxer Tommy Fury’s potential wrestling aspirations, and speculation surrounding NXT standout Oba Femi, here is the latest update from the world of professional wrestling.

Roman Reigns Comments on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and Possible Future Clash with The Rock

In a revealing interview on the SI Media podcast, Roman Reigns discussed the fluctuating plans WWE had leading into WrestleMania 40, where his opponent switched between Cody Rhodes and The Rock. Reigns expressed that it did not matter to him who he faced in the main event, as long as he was headlining the show.

Reigns stated, “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with. They’re trying to stop history from happening, trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me.”

Following Rhodes’ 2024 men’s Royal Rumble victory, the initial plan was for The Rock to face Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, after fan backlash, Rhodes reversed his decision and challenged Reigns, resulting in The Rock turning heel and aligning himself with Reigns. The duo—The Rock and Reigns—defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins in Night 1’s main event at WrestleMania 40, only for Rhodes to win the WWE title from Reigns on Night 2. When asked if a Rock vs. Reigns match might still happen, Reigns acknowledged it was possible if the fans clamor for it. He said, “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock’s unexpected return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month stirred excitement, although he has remained absent since then. With The Bloodline factions clashing in a WarGames match at Survivor Series, speculation is growing that The Rock might reappear and potentially set the stage for a future showdown with Reigns.

Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Ambitions After Backstage Visit

British professional boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, recently teased an interest in WWE during a backstage visit at a WWE UK tour event. Sharing footage on YouTube, Fury praised WWE superstars including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, and hinted at a future in pro wrestling.

Fury said, "I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?" His boxing career remains undefeated at 10-0, and he is notably the only boxer to have beaten Jake Paul. Given his ties to the Paul family and Tyson Fury’s previous WWE involvement—including a match at Crown Jewel 2019 and a surprising backstage incident at Clash at the Castle 2022—Tommy Fury is a promising candidate for a crossover into professional wrestling.

A potential Fury vs. Paul brothers feud or tag team storyline holds strong mainstream appeal, making Tommy’s WWE future something to watch closely.

Oba Femi Reported Missing from NXT After Recent Losses

On the NXT front, rising star Oba Femi has been noticeably absent from tapings and programming since his loss at Halloween Havoc on October 27, where he dropped the North American Championship to Tony D’Angelo. According to Fightful Select, there has been no backstage presence or rumors of injury to explain his absence.

Femi debuted on NXT television in April 2023, quickly making an impact by winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship from Dragon Lee. His 272-day title reign ended abruptly in October, followed by a rematch defeat at Halloween Havoc.

While his current hiatus may be a strategic pause to regroup after consecutive losses or preparation for a main roster call-up, Femi remains a strong candidate for future NXT Championship contention. Fans can anticipate his eventual return as a key player in NXT’s title scene.
