WWE Updates: Roman Reigns Reflects on The Rock & Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Career, NXT’s Oba Femi Absence

Bleacher Report highlights the latest developments in the WWE Universe, covering insights from Roman Reigns on his WrestleMania 40 main event experience, potential wrestling ambitions of boxer Tommy Fury, and recent rumors surrounding NXT star Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Opens Up About WrestleMania 40 and The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes

In a revealing interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns discussed his thoughts on the WrestleMania 40 main event saga involving The Rock and Cody Rhodes.

Reigns explained that he was indifferent about who he would face in the main event, as long as he remained the focal point of the storyline. "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… It was the same task in hand for me," Reigns said, highlighting the pressure of defending his championship regardless of the opponent.

The storyline had originally positioned Cody Rhodes to challenge Reigns after winning the Royal Rumble, then shifted to The Rock after fan backlash, and later reversed again, leading to The Rock turning heel — adopting the moniker "The Final Boss" — and aligning with Reigns. At WrestleMania 40, The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1, before Rhodes captured the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. When asked about the possibility of a future one-on-one match with The Rock, Reigns emphasized the power of fan demand. "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen," he remarked.

Notably, The Rock made an unannounced WWE return at the recent Bad Blood event but has kept his intentions ambiguous since. With the upcoming Survivor Series event featuring a WarGames match involving The Bloodline factions, speculation grows that The Rock might reappear, potentially setting the stage for a future showdown with Reigns.

Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Career Potential

British boxer Tommy Fury recently teased his interest in exploring professional wrestling within WWE. In a YouTube video posted backstage during WWE’s UK tour, Fury expressed enthusiasm about the experience and gave shoutouts to several WWE talents including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

"So guys, that is a night at the WWE complete… I look forward to possibly climbing through these ropes one day," Fury said, hinting at a potential wrestling career.

Tommy Fury, the younger brother of former heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, has built his own reputation with a 10-0 professional boxing record. His familial ties to WWE—Tyson Fury wrestled once at Crown Jewel in 2019 and made a notable appearance at WWE Clash at the Castle in 2022—along with Tommy’s own rising star, make WWE a plausible path.

Given his connections to the Paul family, especially with Logan Paul actively competing in WWE, a potential Paul brothers vs. Fury brothers feud or tag team match could attract wider mainstream attention.

Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Sparks Speculation

NXT star Oba Femi has been notably absent from recent NXT tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Fightful Select reported no backstage presence of Femi over the past month, leaving reasons for his absence unclear.

Femi, who debuted on television in April 2023, quickly rose through the ranks by winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and securing the North American Championship with a record-setting 272-day reign. His consecutive losses to D’Angelo, including dropping the title, marked a rare downturn.

His current hiatus could be due to many factors—ranging from possible injury, a main roster call-up, or creative decisions to allow him time to recover from the recent setbacks. When he returns, Femi is likely to be positioned as a leading contender for the NXT Championship, potentially to challenge champion Trick Williams.
