Reigns, widely regarded as “The Tribal Chief,” discussed the main event at WrestleMania 40, which switched between potential matches with Cody Rhodes and The Rock. When asked if he was disappointed to face Rhodes instead of The Rock, Reigns was candid, expressing that the specific opponent was secondary as long as he maintained his position as the headliner. He stated, “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening. It was the same task in hand for me.”
The storyline evolved in an unexpected way this year. After Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, he initially declined to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Given his family’s prior WWE exposure—Tyson Fury wrestled Braun Strowman once in 2019 and recently disrupted Austin Theory’s Money in the Bank contract—Tommy’s potential crossover could generate considerable interest. Reports suggest NXT star Oba Femi has been noticeably absent from NXT tapings since late October. Fightful Select notes that following Femi’s losses to Tony D’Angelo, including a North American Championship defeat at Halloween Havoc, he has not appeared on television or backstage.
Femi, who debuted in April 2023, quickly rose through the ranks by winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and securing the North American Championship with a record 272-day reign. His sudden absence could represent a strategic break to reset after back-to-back losses or possibly anticipation of a main roster call-up. Alternatively, it might be related to injury or storyline planning.
