Roman Reigns Reflects on The Rock, Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Future; Oba Femi Missing from NXT

The WWE Universe has been abuzz with recent developments involving top stars and rising talents. From Roman Reigns discussing his WrestleMania 40 matches to boxing sensation Tommy Fury hinting at a wrestling career, and questions swirling around NXT’s Oba Femi, Bleacher Report offers the latest updates.

Roman Reigns Opens Up on WrestleMania 40 and The Rock Possibility

During an interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE’s “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns shared candid thoughts on his WrestleMania 40 experience and his relationship both on and off screen with The Rock and Cody Rhodes.

Reigns revealed he wasn’t disappointed about facing Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock in the WrestleMania 40 main event, emphasizing that being in the spotlight was what mattered most.

“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with,” Reigns said. “They are trying to stop history from happening. It was the same task in hand for me regardless of who it was.”

Originally, after Rhodes won the 2024 Royal Rumble men’s match, it seemed he would not challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship, leading to speculation that The Rock would take that spot. Fan backlash caused a reversal, which resulted in The Rock turning heel as “The Final Boss” and teaming with Reigns to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. However, Rhodes ultimately defeated Reigns for the WWE title in the main event of Night 2. When asked about the possibility of a future Reigns vs. Rock matchup, Reigns responded positively, highlighting WWE’s openness to fan demand.

“If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said.

The Rock made a surprise unannounced return at Bad Blood last month but has not appeared since. With the upcoming WarGames match at Survivor Series featuring rival Bloodline factions, fans are speculating the timing could be right for The Rock to return and possibly set up a dream confrontation with his cousin.

Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Ambitions During UK Tour

British professional boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, teased the possibility of joining WWE in the future. In a recent YouTube video posted Sunday, Fury shared behind-the-scenes moments from WWE’s UK tour, meeting stars such as Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

“Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day,” Fury remarked.

Tommy, who maintains an undefeated 10-0 boxing record and is the only person to decisively defeat Jake Paul, could be a natural fit in WWE, especially given his connection to the Paul brothers and Tyson Fury’s past involvement with the company. His crossover appeal might spark potential storylines involving Logan Paul, a current WWE Superstar and former US Champion.

Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Spurs Speculation

Meanwhile, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, according to reports from Fightful Select.

Femi, who rose quickly after debuting in televised NXT in April 2023—capturing the NXT Breakout Tournament and then the North American title with a record 272-day reign—has yet to be seen on NXT television or backstage. The reasons for his absence remain unclear, with possibilities ranging from injury and a potential main roster promotion to a strategic hiatus following two recent losses.

Industry insiders suggest Femi remains a strong contender to challenge for the NXT Championship in the future, possibly as an opponent to current champion Trick Williams.
