Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40, The Rock Match Potential; Tommy Fury Eyes WWE; Oba Femi Missing from NXT

Bleacher Report updates wrestling fans on key developments from the WWE Universe, including Roman Reigns’ recent interview revealing insights about WrestleMania 40, boxer Tommy Fury’s hinting at a WWE future, and rumors surrounding NXT star Oba Femi’s current absence.

Roman Reigns Talks WrestleMania 40, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes

On the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina, WWE’s “Original Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns opened up about his WrestleMania 40 main event experience, where he faced Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock. Reigns expressed that it did not matter to him which opponent he faced as long as he was the main event, stating:

“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening.”

Reigns emphasized that defending his championship against any opponent was the priority, highlighting the challenge of maintaining his status at the top of WWE.

The storyline for WrestleMania 40 saw Cody Rhodes winning the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but initially declaring he would not challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship. This created anticipation for a possible match between Reigns and The Rock. However, fan backlash led to a sudden change where Rhodes reversed his stance, prompting The Rock to turn heel as “The Final Boss,” aligning with Reigns. The two teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, only for Rhodes to defeat Reigns for the WWE title on Night 2. When asked about the potential for a future match against The Rock, Reigns suggested that the decision ultimately depends on fan demand:

“If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock made a surprise return to WWE at Bad Blood last month but has not revealed any specific plans or appeared since. With a WarGames match involving the new and original versions of The Bloodline set for Survivor Series, speculation intensifies that The Rock might reappear and possibly build a storyline leading to a showdown with Reigns.

Tommy Fury Teases Interest in WWE Wrestling

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has hinted at a possible future in WWE. Posting a backstage video from a recent WWE event in the United Kingdom, Fury expressed appreciation for the company and the wrestlers, saying:

“I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?”

Tommy Fury, currently undefeated in professional boxing with a 10-0 record, noted the warm welcome he received from WWE superstars including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

Tyson Fury previously made a one-off WWE appearance in 2019 at Crown Jewel, where he defeated Braun Strowman by count-out. Tommy’s connections with the Paul family—known for Logan Paul’s WWE career—further fuel interest in him potentially joining WWE, possibly setting up exciting matches featuring the Fury and Paul brothers.

Oba Femi’s Recent Absence from NXT Raises Questions

Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has not been seen on NXT programming or at tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, according to Fightful Select reports.

After bursting onto the scene with an undefeated streak and winning the NXT Breakout Tournament, Femi secured the North American Championship by cashing in on Dragon Lee. His record-setting 272-day title reign ended abruptly with back-to-back losses to D’Angelo.

The cause of Femi’s absence remains unclear. It could be an injury break, a creative decision by NXT management, or possibly a prelude to a main roster call-up. When he returns, many expect Femi to be a strong contender for the NXT Championship, possibly challenging current titleholder Trick Williams.

Wrestling Fans Stay Tuned

Roman Reigns’ openness to a future match with The Rock, Tommy Fury’s flirtation with WWE, and Oba Femi’s uncertain status in NXT together showcase an intriguing blend of developments in professional wrestling. Fans can look forward to how these stories evolve in the coming weeks.
