Roman Reigns Reflects on The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Future WWE Prospects; Tommy Fury Eyes Wrestling Career; NXT Star Oba Femi’s Absence Sparks Speculation

In the latest update from the WWE Universe, Roman Reigns opened up about his recent matches and potential future encounters, boxing star Tommy Fury hinted at a possible wrestling career with WWE, and former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi’s recent absence has sparked curiosity among fans and insiders alike.

Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 40, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns spoke candidly during an interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina about his experience leading into and during WrestleMania 40. He addressed the speculation and changes that saw him initially expected to face The Rock, but ultimately competing against Cody Rhodes in the event’s main event.

Reigns emphasized that his focus was on being the main event attraction, regardless of his opponent. “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with," Reigns said, acknowledging the challenge of defending his status at the top of WWE.

The storyline pivot saw Rhodes, after winning the men’s Royal Rumble, initially decline to face Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, which fueled rumors about The Rock stepping into that spot. Fan backlash prompted Rhodes to reverse his stance days later, leading to The Rock’s heel turn as “The Final Boss” and alliance with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. On Night 2, Rhodes prevailed over Reigns to capture the WWE title.

Reigns also teased the possibility of finally facing his cousin, The Rock, in the future. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen,” he said, noting that WWE respects the desires of its passionate fanbase.

The Rock came back surprisingly at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has kept his intentions under wraps since then. With the renewed bloodline rivalry culminating at Survivor Series, speculators suggest the timing could be right for another Rock appearance as WWE builds toward a possible Reigns vs. Rock showdown.

Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Ambitions

British professional boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, hinted he may be considering a future in professional wrestling with WWE. Posting a backstage video from WWE’s UK tour on YouTube, Tommy shared his enthusiasm for the experience.

“So guys, that is a night at the WWE complete. All the wrestlers showing love. Big up to Randy Orton. Absolutely amazing guy. Big up to Cody Rhodes, all of them, Gunther, the lot of them. Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?” Fury said.

Tommy Fury has made a reputation for himself as a boxer with an undefeated record and a notable win over Jake Paul. His familial connection to Tyson Fury, who made his WWE in-ring debut at 2019’s Crown Jewel event, and Tommy’s ties to the Paul family, particularly Logan Paul who is an active WWE Superstar, create a storyline goldmine that WWE may explore in the future.

Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Raises Questions

Oba Femi, a standout talent from WWE’s NXT brand and former North American Champion, has reportedly been missing from NXT tapings since his October 27 loss at Halloween Havoc to Tony D’Angelo. This marks a notable gap following two consecutive defeats, including dropping the North American Championship after a historic 272-day reign.

Fightful Select reports no backstage sightings or activity from Femi in recent weeks, though no official reasons have been disclosed. Speculation ranges from needing time to recover, a storyline reset, or even preparations for a main roster promotion.

Since his debut in April 2023, Femi impressed fans with a dominant run, including winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and claiming the North American title by defeating Dragon Lee. Though the end of his title reign and subsequent losses put him out of the spotlight temporarily, his reputation positions him as a prime candidate to target the NXT Championship upon his return, potentially challenging current champion Trick Williams.

What’s Next in WWE?

With Roman Reigns hinting at more high-profile clashes, rising stars like Tommy Fury showing interest in joining the squared circle, and top NXT talent like Oba Femi returning from hiatus, WWE storylines continue to build with plenty of intrigue. Fans can expect evolving rivalries and fresh narratives as the company pushes into the new year.
