Roman Reigns Talks The Rock and Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Career, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence – Latest WWE Universe Updates

Bleacher Report is back with the latest buzz from the WWE Universe, covering Roman Reigns’ reflections on WrestleMania 40, Tommy Fury’s potential wrestling future, and rumors surrounding NXT rising star Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Opens Up on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and Future Showdowns

During a recent interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, WWE’s “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns shared candid thoughts about his WrestleMania 40 main event opponent situation and possible clash with his cousin, The Rock.

Reigns revealed that when the WWE reportedly vacillated between booking him against either The Rock or Cody Rhodes, he remained unfazed, stating it didn’t matter whom he faced so long as he was in the main event spotlight.

"I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with, you know. I am the hot chick, everyone wanted to take me out," Reigns said. "They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me."

Originally, after Cody Rhodes’ 2024 men’s Royal Rumble victory, it seemed The Rock would be Reigns’ challenger at WrestleMania 40. Rhodes initially declared he would forgo his title shot, but fan backlash prompted a reversal, leading to The Rock turning heel—renaming himself The Final Boss—and teaming with Reigns. Together, they defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, only for Rhodes to capture the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2’s main event.

Addressing the prospect of a future Reigns-Rock match, Reigns said it remains a possibility contingent on fan demand:

"If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen."

The Rock unexpectedly returned last month at WWE’s Bad Blood event, sparking speculation about future plans. With Survivor Series approaching, where original and new versions of The Bloodline are set to clash, fans could see a renewed build toward a Reigns vs. Rock showdown.

Boxer Tommy Fury Teases WWE Ambitions

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother to former world heavyweight boxing champ Tyson Fury, hinted that a WWE career might be in his future.

In a recent YouTube video shot backstage during WWE’s UK tour, Fury expressed gratitude for the hospitality of WWE stars and showed enthusiasm about possibly stepping into the wrestling ring one day.

"Big up to Randy Orton. Absolutely amazing guy. Big up to Cody Rhodes, all of them, Gunther, the lot of them. Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night."

Tommy Fury carries an undefeated boxing record and notably handed Jake Paul his first loss, adding intrigue to a potential WWE career. His boxing ties and friendship with the Paul family—Logan Paul being a WWE Superstar and former U.S. Champion—could set up compelling storylines, including a possible brother vs. brother feud or tag team scenario between the Furies and Pauls.

Tyson Fury had a one-off WWE match at Crown Jewel 2019 and made notable appearances afterward, suggesting the Fury family remains familiar with WWE’s world.

NXT Star Oba Femi’s Absence Sparks Speculation

Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has been notably absent from WWE NXT tapings over the past month, raising questions about his status with the brand.

Fightful Select reports that since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, Femi has not been seen backstage or on NXT television. The reason for this absence remains unknown — possibilities include injury, a push toward WWE’s main roster, or a strategic break following two consecutive losses.

Femi emerged on the scene with an impressive streak after debuting in April 2023, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament, and later claiming the North American title by cashing in a title shot on Dragon Lee. His reign lasted a record 272 days before D’Angelo ended it last month.

If and when Femi returns, many expect him to contend for the NXT Championship, potentially toppling current champion Trick Williams.
