Roman Reigns Reflects on The Rock and Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE Career, and Oba Femi’s NXT Absence

Bleacher Report brings you the latest updates from the world of WWE, offering insights into Roman Reigns’ recent thoughts on key wrestling figures, former boxer Tommy Fury’s WWE aspirations, and rumors surrounding NXT standout Oba Femi.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 and Potential Future Match with The Rock

During an interview on the SI Media podcast, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns spoke candidly about his WrestleMania 40 experience and his perspectives on fellow WWE legends The Rock and Cody Rhodes.

Reigns discussed the behind-the-scenes uncertainty surrounding the main event of WrestleMania 40. Initially, Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble and was seemingly set to challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship. Later, plans shifted towards a highly anticipated match between Reigns and The Rock, which sparked strong fan reactions. Ultimately, Rhodes challenged Reigns, while The Rock made a heel turn as "The Final Boss" and teamed with Reigns for the Night 1 main event, defeating Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Rhodes captured the WWE title from Reigns in the Night 2 main event.

When asked if he was disappointed not to face The Rock, Reigns emphasized that being in the main event was what mattered most to him: “I was the main event. I’m the guy everyone wanted to dance with. It didn’t matter who it was. They are trying to stop history from happening… it was the same task in hand.”

Looking ahead, Reigns did not rule out the possibility of a future clash with The Rock, stating, “If our fans are loud enough and passionate enough about something… If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

The Rock, who made an unannounced return at Bad Blood last month, has yet to clarify his future WWE plans. With the new Bloodline and original Bloodline factions set for a WarGames match at Survivor Series, speculation grows that The Rock might make another surprise appearance, potentially setting the stage for a showdown with Reigns.

Tommy Fury Hints at Potential WWE Future

British professional boxer Tommy Fury has expressed interest in entering the WWE wrestling world. Posting a YouTube video from the UK WWE tour, Fury highlighted his backstage interactions with WWE superstars, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

Fury remarked, “Big up to WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?”

The 25-year-old Fury is best known for his undefeated 10-0 boxing record and for being the only fighter to defeat YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Tommy is the younger brother of Tyson Fury, the former heavyweight boxing champion who has made appearances in WWE, most notably beating Braun Strowman by count-out at Crown Jewel 2019. Given his boxing pedigree, his ties to the Paul family, and his crossover appeal, Tommy Fury could be a promising prospect for WWE, where he might eventually face Logan Paul or even team with his brother Tyson for high-profile storylines.

NXT Star Oba Femi Reportedly Absent from Recent Tapings

Oba Femi, a former NXT North American Champion, has been notably absent from NXT appearances for the past month. Fightful Select reports that Femi has not been backstage at NXT tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Femi made a strong impact since his NXT debut in April 2023, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and securing the North American Championship by cashing in on Dragon Lee. His title reign lasted a record 272 days before D’Angelo defeated him, followed by a loss in the rematch at Halloween Havoc.

Although the exact reason for Femi’s absence remains unknown, it could be a strategic break to reset his character following two significant defeats or perhaps an injury hiatus. Some speculate that he might be preparing for a main roster call-up. Upon his return, Femi is seen as a top contender for the NXT Championship, potentially positioned to challenge Trick Williams for the title.
