Speaking with SI’s Jimmy Traina, Reigns highlighted that it didn’t matter to him who he faced in the main event—whether it was Rhodes or The Rock—as long as he was at the top of the card defending his WWE Championship.
Reigns explained, “It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me.” His comments emphasize his focus on the championship and maintaining his status as the top superstar.
Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but initially said he would not challenge Reigns for the WWE title at WrestleMania 40. This led to expectations that The Rock would step in for the championship match. However, after fan backlash, Rhodes reversed his decision, and The Rock turned heel, adopting the persona of “The Final Boss” to align with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 40, with Rhodes capturing the WWE title from Reigns in Night 2’s main event.
Asked about a potential Rock vs. Reigns match in the future, Reigns expressed openness to the idea, contingent on fan interest: “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.” The Rock made a surprise return at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has since been absent, leaving speculation alive about possible storylines including The Rock at events like Survivor Series.
Tommy Fury Teases Potential WWE Career
Boxing sensation Tommy Fury has hinted at a possible crossover into professional wrestling with WWE. In a recent YouTube video showing him backstage during WWE’s UK tour, Fury interacted with several WWE stars including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther. He shared his enthusiasm about the experience and contemplated stepping into the wrestling ring one day.
Fury’s close relationship to the WWE world through his older brother Tyson Fury—who wrestled a high-profile match against Braun Strowman in 2019—and his undefeated boxing career (10-0) make him a natural contender for a future WWE career. Additionally, his connection to the Paul family and previous high-profile bouts, notably being the only fighter to defeat Jake Paul so far, position him well for potential feuds with WWE Superstar Logan Paul or even a Paul brothers vs. Fury brothers storyline, which could attract mainstream attention.
NXT Update: Oba Femi Missing from Recent Tapings
Oba Femi, former North American Champion and breakout star of WWE’s NXT brand, has been notably absent from recent tapings since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at NXT Halloween Havoc on October 27. According to Fightful Select, Femi has not been seen backstage or on NXT episodes for over a month, and the reasons have not been disclosed.
Femi enjoyed a strong rise after debuting on television in April 2023, winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American Championship by defeating Dragon Lee. His impressive title reign lasted 272 days before falling to D’Angelo, who also secured the win in their rematch at Halloween Havoc.
While his current absence could be related to rest, injury, or creative direction, many speculate that Femi may be preparing for a main roster call-up or a future storyline push in NXT, possibly targeting the NXT Championship held by Trick Williams.
