Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents, The Rock, Cody Rhodes
Roman Reigns recently opened up about his experience facing Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock at WrestleMania 40 in an interview on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina. Reigns expressed that it did not matter to him who he faced in the main event, stating his priority was being at the pinnacle and defending his title.
Reigns explained, "I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… We just need to get there and defend this thing. It didn’t matter who it is. They are trying to stop history from happening, to take us off the pinnacle… it was the same task for me."
The original plan had suggested The Rock would challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship after Cody Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble but chose not to challenge Reigns initially. However, fan backlash led Rhodes to change course, and The Rock turned heel, aligning with Reigns as "The Final Boss." Together, Reigns and The Rock defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. On Night 2, Rhodes reclaimed the WWE Championship by defeating Reigns.
Regarding a future match against The Rock, Reigns sounded hopeful if the fans show strong support. "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen," said Reigns. The Rock made a surprise WWE return at last month’s Bad Blood event but has been inactive since, leaving fans eager for a potential showdown between the cousins. The storyline could heat up again during the upcoming Survivor Series WarGames match featuring the new and original Bloodline factions.
Tommy Fury Hints at Possible WWE Career After Backstage Visit
British boxer Tommy Fury has hinted at a possible future in WWE after attending a recent WWE show during the company’s UK tour. Fury shared a video on YouTube where he expressed gratitude to WWE stars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther for their support backstage.
"Thank you to the WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?" said Fury.
Tommy Fury, 25, is the younger brother of Tyson Fury, a former heavyweight boxing champion who had a memorable one-off WWE match at Crown Jewel 2019. His potential transition into pro wrestling could generate mainstream excitement, particularly if it leads to a showdown or alliance involving the Paul brothers, given Tommy’s historic boxing win over Jake Paul and Logan Paul’s current status as a WWE Superstar.
Oba Femi Reportedly Absent from NXT Following Recent Losses
Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi has been notably absent from NXT tapings over the past month, according to reports from Fightful Select. Femi has not appeared since his defeat by Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, where he lost his record 272-day North American Championship reign and subsequently the rematch.
The reasons for Femi’s absence remain unclear, with possibilities ranging from a planned break to recover creatively or physically to speculation about a main roster call-up. Since his TV debut in April 2023, Femi has enjoyed a strong push, including winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and securing the North American title.
When Femi returns, he is expected to challenge for the NXT Championship, potentially positioning him as a top contender against current champion Trick Williams.
