WWE Update: Roman Reigns Discusses The Rock and Cody Rhodes; Tommy Fury Hints at WWE Ambitions; Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Sparks Rumors

In the latest buzz from the WWE universe, several notable developments have caught the attention of fans and insiders alike. Roman Reigns recently opened up about his WrestleMania 40 experiences and potential future encounters, boxer Tommy Fury hinted at a WWE future, and NXT’s Oba Femi has been notably absent, fueling speculation about his status.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 and Future Prospects with The Rock

Roman Reigns, WWE’s Tribal Chief, shared candid thoughts during an interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina. When asked about the main event of WrestleMania 40, where he faced Cody Rhodes rather than The Rock, Reigns expressed that the opponent mattered less than being part of the main event itself.

Reigns stated, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with, you know. I am the hot chick, everyone wanted to take me out." He emphasized that his goal was to defend his title against anyone trying to stop "history from happening."

The storyline at WrestleMania 40 had initially positioned Cody Rhodes as the challenger after winning the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble. However, Rhodes initially declined to challenge Reigns, pointing instead to The Rock, who later turned heel and allied with Reigns as The Final Boss. The Rock and Reigns teamed up to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the WrestleMania Night 1 main event. Subsequently, Rhodes claimed the WWE title on Night 2. When questioned about a potential future one-on-one between Reigns and The Rock, the Tribal Chief indicated that, "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen." Reigns acknowledged the power of the fanbase in influencing WWE’s creative direction, noting the company’s willingness to satisfy its audience.

The Rock made a surprise return at last month’s Bad Blood event but has since remained off WWE programming. With Survivor Series and the WarGames match spotlighting the Bloodline storyline, speculation is rife that The Rock could appear again, possibly paving the way for a historic clash with his cousin.

Tommy Fury Teases WWE Ambitions After Backstage Visit

British professional boxer Tommy Fury has publicly hinted at a possible future in WWE following a recent backstage visit during the company’s UK tour. Posting on YouTube, Fury shared footage of himself mingling with WWE Superstars including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.

In the video, Fury said, "All the wrestlers showing love…Thank you to WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows?"

Tommy Fury, 25, is the brother of Tyson Fury, the former world heavyweight boxing champion who briefly worked with WWE, wrestling a match at Crown Jewel 2019. Tommy’s perfect 10-0 professional boxing record, combined with his win over social media star Jake Paul, sets the stage for a potentially high-profile crossover into wrestling.

Given Tommy’s connections to the Paul family—Logan Paul is an active WWE Superstar and a former United States Champion—a Paul vs. Fury storyline could attract mainstream attention and broaden WWE’s audience.

Oba Femi’s NXT Absence Raises Questions

Oba Femi, a standout NXT talent and former North American Champion, has not appeared on NXT television or backstage since his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, 2024, according to Fightful Select.

Femi’s absence comes after a significant title reign of 272 days, the longest in North American Championship history. He suffered a surprising setback with back-to-back losses against D’Angelo, which could explain the need for a reset.

Since debuting on NXT in April 2023, Femi quickly made a name for himself, winning the Breakout Tournament and capturing the North American title from Dragon Lee. The reason for his current absence has not been disclosed, prompting rumors ranging from possible injury, a main roster call-up, or a creative direction pause.

When he returns, many expect Femi to be a strong competitor for the NXT Championship, perhaps even positioned to take the title from current champion Trick Williams.
