Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and The Rock Match Prospects
Roman Reigns recently opened up about his WrestleMania 40 experiences and the possible future of a showdown with his cousin, The Rock, during an interview on Sports Illustrated’s SI Media podcast.
The WWE Universal Champion addressed the uncertainty surrounding his WrestleMania 40 main event opponent. Fans speculated whether he would face The Rock or Cody Rhodes. Reigns emphasized it didn’t matter to him who he faced as long as he was in the spotlight:
“It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with. It’s where, we just need to get there and defend this thing. It didn’t matter who it is. They are trying to stop history from happening. They are trying to take us off the pinnacle right now, so it was the same task in hand for me.”
After Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble, he initially announced he wouldn’t challenge Reigns at WrestleMania 40, seemingly paving the way for The Rock to step into the role. However, fan backlash caused a reversal, leading to The Rock turning heel and teaming with Reigns to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania. The following night, Rhodes went on to capture the WWE Championship from Reigns.
When asked about the possibility of a future Reigns vs. The Rock match, Reigns noted:
“If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”
With The Rock’s mysterious return at WWE Bad Blood earlier this year and the ongoing storyline involving versions of The Bloodline at Survivor Series, a renewed Rock vs. Reigns feud remains a tantalizing possibility.
Boxer Tommy Fury Suggests WWE Interest After UK Tour Visit
Tommy Fury, a professional boxer and younger brother to former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has signaled potential interest in pursuing a career in WWE.
In a recent YouTube video, Fury documented his experience backstage at a WWE event during the company’s UK tour. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception from WWE Superstars, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, and hinted at one day stepping inside the wrestling ring:
“Thank you to WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through them ropes one day. Who knows? But it’s been a great night.”
The 25-year-old Fury is undefeated in boxing and notably handed Jake Paul his first professional loss. Given Fury’s ties to the Paul family—one of whom, Logan Paul, is currently a WWE Superstar—there’s speculation he could become a natural WWE rival or partner in the future. NXT Star Oba Femi’s Recent Absence Sparks Rumors
Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion and breakout tournament winner, has not appeared at NXT tapings since late October, sparking speculation about his status in the company.
Fightful Select reports no backstage sightings of Femi following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. The reasons remain undetermined; it could be a strategic hiatus after back-to-back losses or possibly injury-related.
Since debuting on televised NXT in April 2023, Femi had an impressive run, holding the North American title for a record 272 days before dropping it to D’Angelo. His extended absence raises questions about whether he might be preparing for a main roster call-up or simply being rested off-camera.
Fans anticipate that when Femi returns, he could emerge as a top contender for the NXT Championship, potentially challenging current titleholder Trick Williams.
