WWE Updates: Roman Reigns on The Rock and Cody Rhodes, Tommy Fury Eyes WWE, NXT Rumors about Oba Femi

Roman Reigns recently shared insights about his WrestleMania 40 matchup and potential future bouts, while boxer Tommy Fury hints at a possible WWE career. Meanwhile, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi’s absence from NXT tapings has sparked speculation about his status.

Roman Reigns Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Opponents and Future Possibilities

In a candid interview on the SI Media podcast with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, Roman Reigns opened up about his experience heading into WrestleMania 40 and the shifting plans regarding his main event opponent.

Originally, the big WrestleMania showdown was slated to be between Reigns and The Rock, his cousin and WWE legend. However, after Cody Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble, he initially indicated he would not challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, seeming to clear the way for The Rock to be the challenger.

Fans reacted negatively to this development, prompting Rhodes to reverse his stance, pivoting toward a championship match against Reigns. This change also saw The Rock turn heel, adopting the moniker “The Final Boss” and aligning with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns teamed to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, with Rhodes ultimately capturing the WWE Championship from Reigns on Night 2. When asked if Reigns was disappointed not to face The Rock at WrestleMania, he responded, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to dance with… It just needed to be about defending the title and making history."

Looking ahead, Reigns hinted that a matchup with The Rock could still happen if fans demand it: "If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen." The Rock made an unannounced WWE appearance at Bad Blood last month but has remained absent since, leaving room for speculation about a potential WarGames clash or future feud.

Tommy Fury Teases WWE Interest After UK Tour Experience

Boxer Tommy Fury, younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has teased a possible future with WWE. Sharing a video from backstage during WWE’s recent UK tour, Tommy expressed appreciation for the wrestlers and WWE’s hospitality.

In the video, he said: "Big up to Randy Orton… Big up to Cody Rhodes… Thank you to WWE for showing us such appreciation. And I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day. Who knows?"

Tommy Fury is undefeated as a professional boxer and notably the only person to have defeated Jake Paul to date. Given his familial ties and public interest, there’s speculation that he could be groomed to face Logan Paul, who is actively wrestling in WWE. A tag team match featuring the Fury brothers versus the Paul brothers would likely attract broad attention.

Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Sparks Speculation

Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has reportedly been absent from NXT tapings since late October, following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc.

According to Fightful Select, there have been no backstage reports or sightings of Femi since that time. The exact reason remains unclear—whether due to injury, a forthcoming main roster call-up, or creative direction.

Femi had an impressive run since debuting on NXT television in April 2023, including winning the NXT Breakout Tournament and holding the North American Championship for a record 272 days. His televised losses to D’Angelo have marked a turning point, and a hiatus might allow him time to reset before targeting future titles like the NXT Championship.

Summary

Roman Reigns remains focused on his legacy and is open to future Dream Matches, including one with The Rock. Tommy Fury’s recent WWE visit raises the possibility of a crossover wrestling career. Meanwhile, NXT star Oba Femi’s recent absence has wrestling fans curious about his next steps.

WWE continues to evolve as new stories and potential dream matchups emerge, making it an intriguing time for wrestling enthusiasts.
